Safety Reminders
Please know that our first and foremost concern is the safety of our students and staff.
All scholars and visitors will enter Jenkins Elementary through a metal detector. If the metal detector alarm is set off, the person will be wanded with a security wand and their backpack and/or bags will be searched. Please ensure your scholar(s) have nothing in their backpack that you feel would set off the alarm on a metal detector.
Friendly Reminder: Scholars may only carry clear backpacks.
If your scholar(s) does not have a clear backpack, please transition them to a clear backpack over the February Mid-Winter holiday break. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Principal Parker or Assistant Principal Vaughan.
We appreciate your help in creating a safer and more secure environment in which our scholars can learn.
Thank you

At Jenkins, our goal is for the school and community to work in partnership to ensure the success of our scholars in all grade levels. Here at Jenkins, quality tier 1 instruction and the implementation of the curriculum is a top priority. To support us, in supporting scholars with mastery of the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), at home, your child can access some great instructional materials from their my.springisd.org portal.
We recommend the following resources:
Elementary Resources
MobyMax (Math, 3-5)
Amplify Reading (Reading, K-5)
iReady (Math & Reading)
Click the images below for more details about the programs your scholars can access from home.
Parents,
The state of Texas has a mandatory Attendance Requirement of 90%. Please know that under the Compulsory Attendance Law, all students must be in attendance at least 90% of the time they've been enrolled in a public school. In order to receive credit for a final grade for a class, a student is required to attend class 90 percent of the days a class is offered regardless of whether the student's absences are excused [see FEA] or unexcused.
Attendance is taken at 9:30 AM
Students arriving at school after 9:45 AM will be counted absent.
IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT ATTENDANCE, PLEASE EMAIL THE JES ATTENDANCE CLERK.
If you have any questions about your child's attendance or you need to submit a doctor's note, please contact Ms. S. Jackson or sjacks6@springisd.org
Help your child win for their classroom and their grade level by coming to school each day, on time! We have kicked off our ATTEND TO WIN program and we see some grade levels and classes really stepping it up! We need 97% attendance each day. We averaged about 30 absences a day this week, so we are improving!
Help us out with the tardies! School starts at 8am! Please make sure they are at school by 7:35am if they'd like to eat breakfast or 8:00am to catch the morning announcements. Any student arriving after 7:55am will not be able to eat breakfast! We look forward to working with all of you to ensure we are hitting our daily 97% daily target.
ATTEND TO WIN! BE IN CLASS TO PASS!
Click Here to visit our website for more details.
Snacks must be healthy...meaning, fruit (no fruit cups), veggies, or something high in protein. Students will not be allowed to eat sugary snacks, candy, chips, etc. in the classroom any longer. These guidelines only pertain to our classroom snack, not lunch. The snack needs to be something they can eat in about 5 minutes while continuing to work on their assignments. Also, please only allow your child to bring water in their drink containers. We are having several spills, and colored drinks do not clean well.
All birthday cupcakes and drinks will be conducted during students lunch or recess time. If you want to bring birthday goodies for your child to share with their class, they must be delivered to the front office no later than 10 a.m.
Our front office staff are available for any questions you may have.
They will be more than happy to help you!
