Lower Pottsgrove Elementary School
November 2022 Family Newsletter, Part 2
News and Notes
District Parent Survey: Your feedback is incredibly important to us and impacts the work we do. Please make sure your voice is heard by submitting your feedback through our Parent/Guardian Survey. The survey will be open through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Pokemon Cards: Due to an increase in issues with Pokemon or similar cards we are no longer permitting the students to bring them to school. One of the biggest issues is students trading and then regretting the trade which leads to a disagreement. We have students selling cards and taking cards that do not belong to them. To avoid future issues of this nature, students have been instructed to leave the cards at home. We also understand that many of our students move between different homes which may require students to transport objects back and forth through school. That is fine, all items of this nature are to remain in a students backpack during the school day. The first time a student has cards there will be a warning, the second offense will result in the cards being held in the office until the end of the school day, additional offenses will result in the cards being held in the office until a parent or guardian can pick them up. Thank you in advance for your help by reminding your children not to bring the cards to school.
Safety Drill: We will be conducting our annual Safety Drill during the week next week. Lower Pottsgrove PD will be on hand to assist during the drill. I will send a quick message after the drill is completed so you can follow up with your children that evening in case they have any questions or concerns. The drill consists of a scenario presented over the PA system during which the teachers work with students to decide the safest course of action given the information they are presented. We do not want to frighten the students and we are very clear that it is a drill, we do however, want the students to take the drill seriously and listen to staff directions.
Picture Retakes will be on Thursday, November 17 during the school day. Please contact the main office with any questions related to school pictures.
Falcon Fest: Our first Falcon Fest will be held on Friday, November 18 in the afternoon. Falcon Fest is held three times a year as part of our School wide Positive Behavior Plan. We will follow the early dismissal schedule in the morning and then Falcon Fest will run from 1:00-3:15 PM. Students will have multiple stations with a variety of activities to participate in during Falcon Fest. Falcon Fest is a school wide event and not open to visitors.
Parent Conferences: Parent Conferences will be held on Monday, November 21 from 12-8 PM and Tuesday, November 22 from 12-7:00 PM. Teachers have shared sign up information with all parents at this time. Please communicate directly with the teacher if you have questions. If you would like to meet with an Encore teacher, please email the teacher directly to schedule a time to meet.
Thanksgiving Break: The students do not have school the week of November 21-25 for parent conferences and Thanksgiving. School will resume on Monday, November 28.
Winter Coats: If your son or daughter is in need of a winter coat, please do not hesitate to reach out to your son or daughter's teacher, the counselor or to either principal.

The students are getting daily updates on the progress on the announcements and there is a display in the cafeteria so the students know where their class stands.
