MAUREEN M. WELCH STUDENTS BRING SPIRIT TO ANN'S CHOICE RESIDENTS
A small group of students from Mrs. Stasny and Mrs. Schram’s classes visited residents from Ann’s Choice this week to support our district’s initiative of making intergenerational connections. The students worked on interviewing skills, empathy, kindness, patience and understanding of others before going on their trip. They used these skills to interview the residents and learn about their lives. After the interview, they created an art project to leave at Ann’s Choice. The art project celebrated the “American Spirt” to support the monthly theme at Ann’s Choice. They also spread cheer from the entire Maureen M. Welch community by delivering hundreds of hand-made cards to individual residents. The students enjoyed the opportunity to learn about people from different generations and loved seeing their faces light up when given a thoughtful and hand-made card from the students at MMW! It was a great experience for all students and residents involved.
