A Look Into Our Panther Community
Kindness Week kicked off this Monday April 15th as we partnered with the East Hampton Lions Club. We had various activities throughout the week where our focus is on kindness to ourselves, each other and our panther community.
Our focus for Kindness Week was on our PBIS pillars. Our goal was for students to understand the impact of kindness and demonstrate kindness and compassion to peers, staff and our surroundings.
We will end Kindness Week on Monday, April 22nd with a whole school assembly. Chris Poulos, a world champion athlete, youth motivational speaker, and aspiring author will share powerful life lessons as he demonstrates amazing bicycle stunts to our students. He specializes in core values, anti-bullying, and character education. All students received a t-shirt with the design selected by each grade-level. We ask that all students wear their t-shirt to school on Monday for our assembly. We distributed shirts at the end of the day so anyone who left early or was absent, will receive their shirt from their homeroom teacher on Monday. Below are the winning grade-level shirts!
On Monday, students were welcomed back to school with a kindness bracelet!
In science classes on Wednesday, students focused on being kind to the environment. Grade levels did a variety of activities like cleaning up outside, creating recycling posters for classrooms, and determining ways to be kind to our environment every day.
During Unified Arts classes, students painted kindness rocks. These rocks will be displayed at our school to help remind everyone to choose kindness each day.
Our Unified Sports team went to the Yardgoats game this past Tuesday! They had a wonderful time getting to watch the game with an added bonus of music by our 8th grade band and chorus students!
Celebrating our 8th graders!
We are coming into the last couple months of school which means big transitions for our 8th graders. We are looking forward to all the events that will be taking place for them. Below are some save the dates for these. As we get closer, more information will be shared out. Enjoy some pictures below from their trip to Yardgoats this past Tuesday where also our Band and Chorus 8th grade students performed!

SO EASY FOR PARENTS - NOTHING TO BUY - JUST REGISTER, SHARE, PLEDGE

The EHMS PTO is partnering with the PE department to create a great opportunity for ALL students to have fun with healthy activities outdoors while raising funds for EHMS through pledges. The Panther Prowl will take place during the school day on Friday, May 10, 2024. Think of it as a stepped-up version of a Jog-a-thon or a mini field day and you’ll get the idea!
Funds raised during past Panther Prowls have gone to support:
• “Good Morning EHMS” technology
• PE equipment
• Internet safety program for students and parents
• Field trips
• Library books
• Teacher mini-grants and more!
This year, we are hoping to raise funds to begin making improvements to the lighting and sound systems for plays and productions in the Commons, purchase outdoor play/PE equipment, install new benches in front of our school and to continue awarding mini-grants and funding student activities.
Every student participant with pledges of $25 or more will be entered into raffles for great prizes, including the top prize of a Meta Quest 2 VR headset!

Important Attendance Reminder
A phone call does not excuse an absence..
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )
EHMS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
Access to the East Hampton attendance policy is available HERE
Message from the Health Office
Also, a reminder that postural screenings are being done Thursday April 25th for grade 7 females and grade 8 males. For anyone who wants to opt out, please reach out to me. If the screening occurred at their last physical, the student will not be assessed. If there are any questions, please reach out to me.
