Shepard News & Notes
June 3rd, 2016
One week until the finish line! Over the next week our students will be busy with a number of activities to close out the year. Teachers are in touch with students regarding chromebook return, locker clean out, and other end of year items.
The Deerfield Coalition is once again collecting unused school supplies for donation to less fortunate families. If your child has unused supplies, we will encourage him/her to place those supplies in the donation bins located in our main hallway. If you prefer that they bring unused supplies home, please be sure to let your child know.
Warm Regards,
John

7th/FINAL Posting - 8th Grade Graduation Information
- Graduation tickets will be provided to your child with their graduation robe on Monday, June 6th. Please contact Susan Monaghan--smonaghan@dps109.org--with any questions.
- If you are interested in purchasing a panoramic photo of the graduating class, please complete the attached order form.
- The PTSO 8th Grade Graduation Dance is TONIGHT from 7-9pm at Shepard (more information below in the PTSO News section).
- June 7th: 8th grade students are dismissed at 9:30am after graduation rehearsal. Most students choose to walk home, but a bus will be available. 8th grade attendance remains normal--8am to 3pm--until June 7th.
- Graduation is hosted at Deerfield High School at 7pm. This is a formal event; although the graduation gown covers the majority of what students wear, any attire that will be visible should be appropriate for a formal event (in particular, students should wear dress shoes).
3rd Posting - 2016-17 District Fees
District fees for the 2016-2017 school year now are payable online through Family Access. They are due on July 1; a late fee of $25 per family is assessed if you miss that deadline. If you have an outstanding balance for the current school year for any of your children, please pay those fees as soon as possible.
It is very important that you read this fee letter thoroughly - it has a lot of important information for all families. Important notes:
- Review the Family Access User Guide with step-by-step online payment instructions so you can quickly and securely pay your fees using a credit card.
- Incoming kindergarten families: You now can log into Family Access with the login information emailed to your after you registered! The email came from do.not.reply@dps109.org with the subject "Family Access Account Information." If you have chosen extended-day (full-day) kindergarten, you will see 10 payments. The online payment instructions (step #6) explain how you can pay monthly, or choose to add multiple payments at once.
- For families where parents are in separate households, fees will appear only in the Family Access account of the parent who is the primary payor.
- You will see inactive students in Family Access - including District 109 graduates! This allows our incoming families to access the system to pay their fees and ensure we have the correct emergency and contact information for them. So, if you have a child in high school (or beyond!), you will see his or her name pop up now, until we roll over the system for the new school year. Don't worry - there are no fees assigned to them!
Please contact Cathy Kedjidjian if you have any questions about Family Access. If you have questions about fee waivers, please contact Kim Gallion.
6th Posting - PTSO School Supply Order
Spring has arrived! With it comes our annual School Supplies Sale. Believe it or not, it is time to order school supplies for next fall!
Teachers like it when parents purchase through this program because every child has with the same set of supplies and is ready to go on the first day of school.
We like the program because it's so much easier than running from store to store to get just the right item. And, through bulk purchasing, we’re able to save you money, too.
Orders will be delivered right to school for students to pick-up on Fee Day in August.
We hope you enjoy the convenience of ordering school supplies online as well as the great prices we are able to get by buying in bulk. Perhaps best of all, you won’t have to shop for school supplies over the summer!
- To order, visit: DeerfieldCoalition.com
