TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Check your email DAILY - This should be done multiple times a day.
- Always check your class connect schedule in the morning when you log in.
- Attend all "required" class connects. These are mandatory.
- Log those PE/Health hours every week!
- Participate – If you don’t like to talk on the mic, please answer in the chat box or use your polling tools. Let us know you are there and trying. If you will work for us, we will work for YOU!
- Ask questions – Please, please ask questions. We need to know how we can help. For those of you that are shy about asking questions in class, please email us!
- Keep that Tech Support number handy – If you have technical issues, call them! They’re available 24-7. Technical problems are not an excuse for not completing work. The number is 866.512.2273 – put it somewhere you can refer to it easily!
- Save ALL of your passwords and important information somewhere you can find it. You MUST know your NCVA email, your Student ID Number, your Go Formative username and password (for this year, returning students!). Keep them all in one place so that you're not locked out when you have important things to do!
Middle School Updates
We’ve almost reached the finish line for this school year! Use this month to ask questions, practice, and master the skills you’ve been taught this year. Show what you know and do your best with your EOG/EOC exams!
Below are a few tips we recommend for a successful month, some important dates for May, and a motivational quote from Ieoh Ming Pei that will inspire you in this month of school! Be sure to also check out the Bitmoji teachers of the month: Mr. Cheek from 6th grade Science & Ms. Graves and Ms. Klauka from 7th grade Math! Don't miss the information about your Middle School yearbook or the Middle School Art show either!
Encouragement from your Administrators!
Students,
In this month, you will have two opportunities to show off what you know and have learned in this school year for Math, ELA, & if you’re in 8th grade, also Science. With our NWEA tests the first week of May and our End of Grade tests beginning at the end of the month. As we prepare for these end of year NWEA & End of Grade (EOG) tests, we want to encourage you with a few reminders for this testing season!
First, as you think about the upcoming tests, think to yourself “no matter what, I’m going to do my best!” Although these tests can be lengthy, time-consuming, and require a lot of your brain power, if you think about doing your best, you can feel confident on test days. Doing your best means taking your time, thinking through each question thoroughly, and maintaining a positive attitude even when questions may be challenging.
Second, remember that you’re not alone! Your classmates, students across the state, and even your teachers are all taking part in these testing days. Why? These tests show our state how much we’ve learned, our teachers have taught us, and our schools have helped us grow as learners! Even though taking a test may not be our favorite thing to do, they help us to be better students, teachers, and staff members because they provide us with lots of information about the learning that took place in the school year.
Third, know that we believe in you! Your teachers, your Advisors, Middle School staff, and your administrators all believe that you can use these end of year tests to show that you have mastered your academic skills and are ready for the next school year! That's why we're having fun with EOG Olympics and enjoying these last few weeks of live instruction with you because we believe that you will succeed! We're looking forward to seeing you at the testing sites and encouraging you from afar, too!
With these last end of year tests, we hope that you'll feel confident, have a positive attitude, and know that we're rooting for you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. O'Shea & Mrs. Mac
Academic Administrator 6-8 & Lead Teacher 6-8

According to section 725(2) of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 11434a(2)), the term “homeless children and youths”—
(A) means individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and
(B) includes—
(i) children and youths who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason; are living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds due to the lack of alternative accommodations; are living in emergency or transitional shelters; or are abandoned in hospitals.
(ii) children and youths who have a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings;

(iv) migratory children who qualify as homeless for the purposes of this subtitle because the children are living in circumstances described in clauses (i) through (iii).
