March 2024
The LISD RAPPort
LISD Families,
We are officially in the last nine weeks of school, and I’m so proud of our students and staff for finishing the year off strong! I am so grateful to work in a district where amazing things are happening every day, and in this newsletter I’ll tell you about a few of them.
We’ve been celebrating #ThankATeacherWeek here in LISD, where teachers have received notes of encouragement and gratitude from their students. Recognizing our outstanding staff is one of my favorite parts of my job, and it has been such a joy to see our students participate in this recognition. As a reminder, you can always visit LISD.net/Recognize to honor a teacher any time!
As a reminder, our Board of Trustees called for a Bond election to be included on the May 4 ballot. We’re asking voters to consider a total of three propositions that would generate funding to conduct maintenance, repair and renovation needs at various athletics and recreation facilities across the district, as well as all five existing high school stadiums and the district’s two existing Aquatic Centers. I want to remind all of our LISD families to register to vote by April 4, before early voting begins on April 22. You can find more information about registering to vote, what’s on the ballot, polling locations and more at LISD.net/Vote.
This Saturday we’re hosting a Job Fair at Hebron High School, and I look forward to meeting future members of the LISD family. Help us spread the word in your local communities and on social media. We’d also love for you to help us spread the word about Pre-K and Kindergarten enrollment, which is happening this spring. Keep reading for more information!
Keep reading for more information about all the great things happening in LISD. Thank you for helping us make every day a great day for kids!

March 18 Meeting Recap

Board Spotlight: Dr. Staci L. Barker
In this month's Board Spotlight, Dr. Barker shares how she manages her professional and personal responsibilities as a Trustee. To read this spotlight and more, click HERE.
Financial Dashboard
Each month, the Board hears an update from our Chief Financial Officer Scott Wrehe and other district leaders regarding the financial status of the district. The Board uses this information to make decisions on purchasing, compensation, facilities and more. As partners in the success of LISD, we want to make sure our staff has visibility to LISD's budget and related resources. Visit the Financial Dashboard on LISD.net to find this information and more.
On May 4, registered voters residing within Lewisville ISD boundaries will be asked to consider a total of three propositions that would generate additional funding to conduct maintenance, repairs and renovations at various athletics and recreation facilities across the district, as well as all five existing high school stadiums and the district’s two existing Aquatic Centers. Even if voters approve all three bond propositions (totaling $101.8M), the LISD tax rate will not change. Find details at LISDBond.com.
Register to Vote by April 4
We want you to Be The ONE Who Votes! Early Voting will run from April 22 to April 30. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, April 4. Visit LISD.net/Vote for election resources such as voter registration information, polling locations and more. To find a list of elected officials who represent LISD, our district’s priorities, and more visit LISD.net/Legislative.
Happy Thank-A-Teacher Week!
We hope you all have enjoyed seeing the Thank-A-Teacher shoutouts on our social media this week. If you missed them, see teachers from across the district share heartfelt words of gratitude from their students by clicking on the highlight on LISD's Instagram page. As always, you can visit LISD.net/Recognize to highlight a staff member that has made a positive impact on your student. Thank you, teachers!
Kindergarten Enrollment | Happening Now!
We’re in our Kindergarten Era! Early childhood programs will be hosting a parent information session on March 25 for families wanting more information about what to expect when their little learner starts kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. Help us spread the word by sharing LISD.net/Kindergarten. Families can now enroll at any time.
Dual Language Enrollment | Happening Now!
Families with Spanish-speaking students entering kindergarten or first grade can now apply for one of the limited spaces available in LISD’s Dual Language Program. The program is offered at Creekside, Independence, Parkway, Peters Colony, Prairie Trail and Vickery Elementary. To learn more, all families are invited to attend a virtual information session on April 16. Visit LISD.net/DualLanguage to access the sessions and learn more about the Dual Language program.
Pre-K Enrollment | Begins April 1
LISD serves eligible four-year-old students in full-day, state-funded pre kindergarten classes. Students must be 4 years old on/before Sept. 1 of the school year for PreK enrollment and qualify by one or more of the criteria. Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year begins April 1, and in-person enrollment events will be held on April 11 and 12. Help us spread the word by sharing LISD.net/PreK.
Solar Eclipse | April 8
On Monday, April 8, Dallas will be the largest city in the path of totality for the once-in-a-lifetime Great North American Eclipse. We are excited to share this milestone with our LISD family! Click HERE for more information regarding the district's plans for safe eclipse viewing. Please contact your student's campus with any additional questions.
Parent Survey
Yesterday, all LISD families received an email from Lewisville ISD (survey@lisd.net) with the subject line "2024 LISD Parent Survey." This email contains a unique link to our parent survey, which we are asking all families to complete by April 4. Your responses are crucial as we make decisions for the future of LISD!
