Esther F Garrison School for the Arts News You Can Use
This is Principal Parks with news you can use.
Its almost Fall, ya'll! Welcome to another week at Esther F Garrison School for the Arts where creativity and critical thinking prepare our students for 21st century living and where a love for the arts make the difference!
A huge thank you to PTA and a host of parent volunteers for Donuts with Grownups last Friday! They were able to witness car rider first hand and interact with all of you. Thank you for making the morning of many of our families!
Don't forget to join PTA! The cost is $5. We want 100% of you! Did you know that your child can also join PTA. Click this link for a fast and easy way to join. https://garrisongatorspta.memberhub.store/shopping/categories/8921
We have been informed that Y-base will resume on Wednesday September 22. We are grateful for your patience as we worked with our parents who were displaced due to the closure of Ybase.
We begin car rider at 3:15 and end by 3:40 on most days, thanks to those of you who are following our protocols to ensure safety for everyone. When cars decide to make their own rules, it puts the lives of our amazing staff and students at risk. Please slow down, use your turn signals and follow the directions printed below for a safe pickup. Weather, trash bins, buses parked on the street are beyond our control. We still work to MAKE IT HAPPEN and ensure our students get to you safe and in a timely manner. Thank you for working with us. We are the best in SCCPSS because we are stronger together. That includes each of you!
This week is Start with Hello week designed to address loneliness and social isolation in our children. Information is in the SMORE, but we will be wearing green on Friday. Feel free to wear jeans on that day as well. Wednesday will be "Say Hey" day; Thursday is Random Acts of Kindness and Friday is meant to promote unity and inclusivity. Let's all wear green!
We are STRONGER TOGETHER and we can MAKE IT HAPPEN! Whatever IT may be!
Gentle reminders: Students should not be texting or making phone calls during school hours. Students also should not receive phone calls during the school day. Students are only allowed to use cell phones during the instructional day with a teacher or admin approval. Please speak with your child regarding these important matters and turning cell phones off during the day.
Show your Garrison Gator Pride each Friday! This Friday, we are encouraging students and staff to wear green with jeans. PTA will still take orders until Tuesday at midnight for Friday Spirit gear!
Continue to monitor the Garrison website and Facebook page . If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out via email or contact the school.
COVID REMINDERS:
IF IT IS AFTER HOURS, PLEASE USE THE GOOGLE LINK TO REPORT POSITIVE COVID RESULTS...

If you are awaiting a COVID test result for you or your child, please stay home and keep your child at home. If someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19, please keep your child home from school and alert your child’s teacher. PLEASE CONTACT THE NURSE KANITHA.BLACK@SCCPSS.COM or An Administrator if you or your child has tested positive or come into close contact with an individual who has tested positive.
The word for the week is Community. Community is a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
We are Team Garrison with One Goal: Student Achievement! We are “Gator” Ready and "Gator" Proud and we are Gators who know the importance of community. Enjoy the SMORE!
We are definitely STRONGER TOGETHER: MAKING IT HAPPEN!

ARTS IN ACTION: DANCE DEPARTMENT
All dancers will need a pair of canvas, split sole ballet slippers. Boys should have black slippers (or jazz shoes) and girls should have PINK slippers.
Attached are Amazon links to help. The sooner they can have their shoes the better, because they cannot wear their street shoes on the dance floor. The dancers usually just wear their socks, however, during fire drills it is nearly impossible to put all the dancer's street shoes back on to head outside. Our dancer's safety always come first.
We will soon start our Ballet Project! All the details will be posted on your child's Its Learning Ballet platform. Please check your child's Its Learning regularly!
We will also begin working on our Garrison Dance Department December 2021 showcase. Grades K - 8th will be participating. All male dancers participating will need BLACK jazz or ballet shoes and all females participating will need PINK ballet slippers.

Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19
What you need to know
- When you wear a mask, you protect others as well as yourself. Masks work best when everyone wears one.
- A mask is NOT a substitute for social distancing. Masks should still be worn in addition to staying at least 6 feet apart, especially when indoors around people who don’t live in your household.
- Masks should completely cover the nose and mouth and fit snugly against the sides of face without gaps.
- Masks should be worn any time you are traveling on a plane, bus, train, or other form of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
- People age 2 and older should wear masks in public settings and when around people who don’t live in their household.
- Wear a mask inside your home if someone you live with is sick with symptoms of COVID-19 or has tested positive for COVID-19.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol after touching or removing your mask.
- Masks may not be necessary when you are outside by yourself away from others, or with people who live in your household. However, some areas may have mask mandates while out in public, so please check the rules in your local area (such as in your city, county, or state). Additionally, check whether any federal mask mandates apply to where you will be going.
