GMS Information and Announcements
PIC OF THE WEEK:
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Greene Devil Families,
As we gear up for the final stretch of the academic year, I wanted to take a moment to address upcoming TCAP (Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program) testing. These assessments are important in evaluating our students' growth and achievement for the school year. To help our students excel on TCAPs, here are some tips:
- Encourage Consistent Attendance: Attendance is crucial, especially during TCAP testing. Please ensure your child attends school regularly and arrives on time. Please avoid absences during testing if at all possible (see schedule below).
- Establish a Positive Routine: Creating a consistent routine at home can alleviate stress. Encourage your child to get enough sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time, ready to tackle the day's challenges.
- Practice Time Management: TCAP tests have strict time limits. Help your child practice managing their time effectively during practice sessions. Emphasize the importance of pacing themselves and not spending too much time on any one question.
- Review TCAP-Specific Strategies: Our teachers ensure students are aware of and practice specific test-taking strategies, such as understanding the format of the test, utilizing the provided resources effectively, and navigating through the online platform. Help us reinforce the importance of utilizing those strategies.
- Take Advantage of Review Opportunities: Our teachers are masters of creating engaging, meaningful, and high-quality review activities. Help reinforce the importance of completing review activities and staying engaged in all lessons.
- Provide Emotional Support: Remind your child that TCAPs are just one measure of their abilities. Encourage them to do their best, but reassure them that their value extends beyond test scores. Offer words of encouragement and support throughout the testing process.
I know our students and staff are working hard every day, and students are learning at the highest levels at Greeneville Middle School. With your support and guidance, I am confident our students will rise to the challenge of the upcoming TCAPs. Thank you for always working together to ensure the ongoing success of our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rachel Adams

GRADES and POWERSCHOOL REMINDER
- ALL missing assignments will be entered as a "0," so the missing assignment is accurately reflected in the students' overall grade. This includes missing assignments from absences.
- This does not mean they will not be able to make up their work, but simplifies the process of knowing what is missing and what is not from any absence or lack of completing an assignment.
- It is your student's responsibility to check Canvas and talk with their teacher about missing work when absent.
- All teachers will update grades weekly for on time assignments with late assignments updated within the next week.
- If you do not see grades for your student on a weekly basis, please let a GMS Administrator know.
- If you need help with PowerSchool, email Danielle Stephens, stephensd@gcschools.net and she will assist you.

Afternoon Car Rider Pick-Up
In order to streamline and ensure the safety of our afternoon car rider pick-up process, we kindly remind all parents that every car rider must possess a CarRiderPro tag. This tag is crucial as it is automatically scanned upon entry into the car line, allowing the names of students to populate on a list visible within classrooms. Please be informed that students are not dismissed from their classrooms until their name appears on the CarRiderPro list. Additionally, to prioritize the safety of our students and staff and to comply with state law, we remind drivers that cell phone use is not permitted in the carline; therefore, please refrain from texting students while in the carline.
In addition, we've made acquiring replacement or additional CarRiderPro tags convenient for all families. These tags can be purchased for $5 through our school website. Simply click on the "Parents" tab and select the online store option. Once purchased, tags can be picked up by a parent or guardian at the school office the following day. Thank you for your cooperation in utilizing these tags to streamline our car pick-up process and uphold safety standards for our school.
