- To identify barriers to student learning
- To work as a team to remediate those barriers
- To engage and/or re-engage our students with learning
EARLY RELEASE THIS WEDNESDAY
This Wednesday, September 21 will be our first Early Release Wednesday. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, BLA will dismiss at 2:30. Students may remain on campus outside until 2:45 (our usual dismissal time).
PreACT at BLA on Tuesday, October 11 for grades 9-11
The PreACT is a paper and pencil assessment that formatively gives students a better sense about their skills, interests, plans, and goals as they build toward the PREACT Secure (9th and 10th grade) and the ACT (11th grade) in the spring. Data will be used at the building level to identify areas of strength and opportunities for instructional improvement.

Visiting and Volunteering at BLA
SAFETY AND SECURITY
The safety, security, and well-being of our students, families, and staff is our number one priority.
In 2020, the School District of Beloit began using the Raptor Visitor Management System. The Raptor system allows us to better monitor visitors, contractors, and volunteers who enter our schools. Upon entering any district building or school, all visitors will be required to sign in and present a picture ID. Acceptable IDs include, state-issued IDs such as a driver's license, a passport, or a consular card. The ID will be scanned into the Raptor software system.
This security protocol follows Board Policy 860, Rule 1 that states, "any person other than a student or district employee is regarded as a visitor" and must report to the building's main office for authorization before going anywhere in the school building.
VOLUNTEERING WITH SDB
The School District of Beloit embraces and values the work and commitment of our volunteers. In the 2021-2022 school year we had more than 600 volunteers provide support in our schools and classrooms, tutor and read with our students, provide engaging presentations, chaperone field trips, and so much more. Please call Mrs. Hunt at 361-4305 if you are interested in volunteering at BLA.
If you applied and were approved to volunteer for the 2021-2022 school year, your approved volunteer application will continue to be valid for two additional school years. You will not have to re-apply until the 2024-2025 School Year.
If you are currently not approved to volunteer, make sure to visit our volunteer website to learn about how to become a SDB Volunteer and fill out our Online Volunteer Application.
