PAWS Program
Have you seen your child wearing a green paw-print sticker? He or she was “Spotted” making a great choice at school! Every 2-3 weeks we highlight a specific behavior that supports our school goal of increasing respectful behaviors. Already this year we’ve showcased:
- Giving Greetings
- Honesty
- Fairness
Students frequently assume that fairness means equality, when in reality, fairness means everyone getting what they need. As diverse individuals, we all need different things. This is an important message we’ve been building on at school, and one you can continue to explore at home within your family.

LMES Storybook Pumpkin Contest Entries Due Monday!
Students and families in all grades are invited to participate in the Storybook Pumpkin contest in which pumpkins are transformed into favorite book characters!
RULES:
Students/families must bring the decorated pumpkin to LMES Media Center on Monday, October 26th, by 9:00 AM. The Media Center will be open at 8:30 AM.
The entry fee is $2.00. This fee will be collected by the PTO to support curriculum enhancements. The fee and entry form below must be submitted with the pumpkin.
Please choose a pumpkin that is no larger than 10 inches in diameter. Pumpkins that are carved or pierced in any way will not be accepted since these will be on display in the media center.
Families are encouraged to decorate the pumpkin together. Make it a fun activity, but please let your children do as much of the work as possible.
Parents must pick up the pumpkin between Nov. 3-5th. After the 5th, the pumpkins will be disposed of.
October 26th through October 30th, all students will vote for the best representation of the book character. The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate and all participants will receive a certificate of participation. The lasting reward is re-reading a favorite book and creating something as a family!
Veteran's Day
Here at LMES, we are going to honor our veterans and the work they have done by planning special activities on Veteran’s Day, including breakfast for visiting veterans, a flag raising ceremony, and an assembly in the cafétorium for students and veterans.
