From the Desk of Pastor Paul
Dear Friends,
We have some wonderful fellowship activities coming up in the next 10 days which I hope you will plan to participate in along with friends and family from our congregation and the community. They are…
- Lakeside Coffeehouse, Saturday October 19th – Doors open at 7 p.m. with music beginning at 7:30 p.m. with Rufus Harris and Jean Watson, two wonderful Christian singers / musicians! Free goodies, no charge to attend, and the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Anchored Hope Outreach ministry working with victims of human trafficking.
- OLCC,P Tailgate Party, Sunday October 20th – Join friends and family at 1 p.m. for a Sunday tailgate sponsored by the Meaningful Relationships team from the CAT survey. The Lions play the Vikings (TV provided) and you bring whatever you want to cook for your tailgate lunch along with chairs, drinks, and any tailgate games you normally play. Grills will be available along with face painting for kids, pumpkin decorating, and the fellowship of good people! And a Lions victory!
- Live! At The Lake with Max Winfrey, Sunday October 27th – Our first event of 2019-2020 brings this faith-based stunt comedian to our sanctuary! Max was a contestant on America’s Got Talent and has performed all across the US with his comedy, juggling, slight of hand, and other fun family-friendly entertainment. Spread the word to neighbors and friends. General Admission tickets for the 4 p.m. event are $15 available online, at Sunday worship, or in the church office.
This Sunday in worship we will be looking at Matthew 6:1-6,16-18 as we continue our reflections on A Disciple’s Manifesto – the Sermon on the Mount. For the past several weeks we have considered Jesus’ teaching about how we interact with others in dealing with things such as anger, lust, retaliation, and loving our enemies. In Matthew 6, Jesus turns our attention to how we relate with our Heavenly Father in areas such as giving, prayer, fasting, material possessions and the like. We’ll see Jesus is passionate about our being real rather than our being religious! Take a few moments to read these verses in preparation.
See you Saturday and Sunday,
Pastor Paul

Introduction to Bible Basics
Sundays 9:00-10:00 a.m.
October 20th in Heritage Hall
Led by Sally Montera
Do you remember a Sunday School teacher expecting you to memorize all the books of the Bible in order? Did you ever go to look up a Bible passage and weren’t quite sure where to look? Did you ever wonder what those little annotations meant or how the Bible was organized? Or are you like me and ever wondered what the background of the story you are reading is – where did this take place, why is the location significant, who are those people referenced, what does that word mean? This study will take up the basics of the Bible and how to approach its study. We will talk about Bible organization, footnotes, concordances, study Bibles, and maps - all designed to give you a solid foundation for future Bible studies.
