UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION IN SYNERGY!
Dear parents and students,
For parents not receiving robocalls, you need to be sure phone numbers are correct in synergy (aka parentvue). Click on the link below and update your information if you have already not done so. We would like to make sure that we have the most up-to-date information in synergy.
Thank you.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
It is important for your child to attend their virtual classes every day. When a student misses a significant amount of school, even if the absences are excused, he or she misses critical instructional time and learning opportunities. This often has long- term, negative effects on a child, such as lower achievement and a greater chance of not graduating on time.
Attendance is part of the state accreditation status. In order to remain fully accredited, students must attend their virtual classes every day.
Questions? Contact our attendance technician, Ms. Edwards at kedwards@nps.k12.va.us
or Mr. Lawrence at hlawrence@nps.k12.va.us
SCHOOL MEALS
Any person under the age of 18 may pick up a meal. Meals may be picked up at Maury High School in the administrative parking lot, off of Shirley Avenue where it meets Botetourt Gardens by the football field in the back. Click here for a map.
Meals are distributed daily, Monday-Friday from 3:00-5:00 inside the school’s cafeteria and cover supper for that night and breakfast, lunch, and a snack for the following day. Supper will be served hot while other meals will be a mixture of pre-packaged, ready to eat items as well as "heat and eat" items. Meal bags will come with preparation, food safety, and allergy information.
Additionally, when picking up meals please wear a mask per Governor Northam’s Executive Order 61 and observe social distancing practices inside the school building.
Families can find more information on School Nutrition's website below.

COMPUTER SCIENCE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD COMPETITION
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and CodeVA are pleased to announce the 2020 Computer Science (CS) in Your Neighborhood Competition. Although the theme is the same as last year, the circumstances and the role of computer science has changed significantly in many schools and households over the past year. Prompts have been generated to guide students in the creation of products.
- K-5 Contest Prompt: Bringing CS Home-How do you use computer science?
- 6-12 Contest Prompt: Planning for your Virtual Future-What would you create using computer science?
These prompts are designed to encourage students to brainstorm a variety of responses and products. Student products must be submitted at CS in Your Neighborhood by Monday, November 23, 2020, by 5:00PM.
