Why I Teach - Britney Phillips
Current Position: Fourth-Grade Teacher at Lucama ES and the WCS 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year
Total Years Teaching: This is my 10th year of teaching.
First Teaching Position and Where: Fifth-Grade Math Teacher at Pattillo A+ School in Edgecombe County
College/s Attended: East Carolina University for both undergrad and graduate degrees.
Why I Love Wilson County Schools: I love being able to work in the area I live in. It's great to be able to see my students outside of the classroom whether it's out to eat, shopping, community events or sporting events.
Favorite Quote: "To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world!"
Other Interesting Facts about Me: I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow in college. My first job was at the elementary school I attended as a child with the same principal I had in middle school.
Why I Teach: I love to see students challenge themselves and grow. I love when they recognize their potential and get excited about learning! I enjoy making a small impact on their academic journey!

- Wells ES wanted to Shout Out! members of the WCS Maintenance Department for working together to create a way to use the school's current brackets to hang a new television for the fourth-graders. Huge thanks to Mark Letchworth, Greg Woodard, Lee Newcomb, Allen Batts, Dennis Lynch and William Davis!
