About the Presentation/Outcomes:
We will use The NH Guidelines for World Language Learning to discuss the activities that teach reading, writing, speaking and cultures as well as meet both state and national standards. We will look at College Board writing samples in French and Spanish for all levels. We will also look at various reading, writing and speaking activities submitted by NH teachers that meet many standards, including NH College and Career Ready Standards based on the Common Core. Teachers can use these activities in class “Monday”. We will talk about cultural activities that are true life-long learning events for students.

Create World Language activities that comply with and enhance NH College & Career Ready Anchor Standards and ELA Literacy Competencies.
About the Presenter
Janis “Jan” Hennessey has recently retired from her position as French teacher and Academic Coordinator of the World Language Department at Dover High School. She has also taught French in Newton MA, and was for 17 years a French instructor for UNH.
As a leader in her field, Jan has served in many capacities to support New Hampshire educators including NHDOE committees for ASL Certification, Praxis II NH representative, writing NH Competencies for World Languages, and coordinator of the writing of the NH Guidelines for World Language Learning. She has been President of the NH Association of World Language teachers three times and is currently a Board member. She has presented at state, national and international conferences. She has authored many published articles in national journals on topics of teaching World Languages.
Jan holds a BA in French from Ursuline College in Kentucky, Diplome-La Sorbonne, Paris, France, and MA in French Literature from the University of Kentucky. She has received the NH Edies Award in World Languages, was a “Best of NH” conference presenter, and NH World Languages Teacher of the Year.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation should be made in writing. A full refund will be made for cancellations postmarked, or sent via email, 7 days before the event.
No refunds will be given for requests received after 7 days before the event, or for "no shows". We do accept substitution of another person at our conference. 24 hours of notification is appreciated.
All received registrations are subject to Cancellation/Refund policy. Cost of registration fee is still liable whether payment is paid or unpaid, if no notice of cancellation is received at least 7 days prior to the event.
If minimum requirement enrollment is not met prior to the early registration deadline, the event may be postponed or canceled.
