Ruby Bridges - where the STARS come to shine!

Hello from the principal's desk!
March 3, 2018
Hello all! This is the week of Spring Conferences - mostly for kids who are performing below grade level expectations, but can be requested by any family who wants to meet with their teacher. I hope you are getting what you need!
Spring has definitely sprung, albeit, with a splash - with more rain to come. I am enjoying the later days, just need some dryer and hotter weather and I will be all set :). Today we had the Alameda County Safe Routes to School's Bike Mobile on campus after school. They fixed up well over 20 bikes. It was fun to see the kids interacting with the mechanics... the one complaint they had was that almost NONE of the kids had helmets. Come on folks! Get helmets on those kids!
Some fun field trips coming up include a 5th grade class trip to Rhythmix Cultural Works music showcase, MOCHA for a 3rd grade class, 2nd grade to the Exploratorium and our 5th grade Science Camp at the end of the month! There are a lot of really awesome opportunities for learning here at Ruby Bridges! Thanks to all the staff for organizing these worthwhile, yet exhausting, "ed"ventures for our kids, and to the volunteer parent chaperones that help out.
One last note - special thanks to ALL the kids and staff who chose to Walk, Roll or Carpool to school over the last two weeks. Our Golden Sneaker contest was a HUGE success! We know whose class did the best job of walking, rolling and carpooling - (drum roll please...) and the winner is...
Mr. LaBarre's 3rd grade class! Woohoo!! Congratulations! They are going to win a special prize, more to come.
Head over to our Twitter feed www.twitter.com/RB_Stars and like a Tweet! Also check out the newest podcast down below... meet the student of the week, Nigel!
