WEEKLY THOUGHTS:
As we move forward into the 2nd semester, I ask you to reflect on where you are as a WMHS Student right now ---
- Achievement - are you on the Honor Roll (All A's and B's) or do you need to put in some more effort into working towards making the Honor Roll?
Attendance - are you coming to school everyday, on time AND getting to class on time AND staying in class where the magic happens? Were you able to take advantage of our Final Exam Opt Out? Will you come to school the 2nd semester so that you can take advantage of the Opt Out this time around?
Discipline - are you making good choices? Being a positive contributor to our WMHS family?
Mental and Social Emotional Health Supports - are you seeking out our offerings for support when you need it? Who is your trusted adult in the building?
Fri-Yay PBIS Drawings - has someone recognized you and given you a Golden Ticket? Have you heard your name on the loud speaker on Fri-Yay and been given a prize?
If you are in a good place, congratulations!! Keep going!! If you have some work to do, you can do this.... Set goals for yourself! You got this! We got you!

Cool Classrooms
If you are looking to help strengthen your leadership and communication skills, Link Art may be a great class for you to take! Link Art pairs you with peers with special needs to help build relationships and promote inclusion within our building. These peers have a variety of abilities, including how they communicate with you. They have unique ways of drawing and painting, and they really love to socialize with their classmates. If this sounds like a class you may be interested in taking, please talk to your counselor.
You may have noticed the Valentine's Day display created by Link Art students as you enter the cafeteria. This cool classroom not only displays their artwork, but invites YOU to participate as well. For this interactive piece, you are encouraged to take a heart from the envelope, write your own note, and add it to the wall. Students in Link Art appreciate your help in growing this art installation.

- Attention current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students: The window to add your course requests for next school year is open until Sunday, February 4. Go into Student Connect and select next year's track to add course requests. All scheduling resources can be found on zebracounseling.net under Scheduling including graduation requirements, course descriptions, tutorials on how to add classes in Student Connect, and an AP Contract if you want to take an AP class next year. After the window closes on the 4th, you will meet with your counselor for a one on one meeting to go over your selections for next year.
- Current Sophomore and Juniors: If you would like to take a Career Tech Course at the William D Ford Career Tech Center next year for the 24-25 school year, you MUST fill out this Google form link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEGU9IjKxd-1gMmHSn-nIgXyeadflTdxykK7aJXTXVMnu6sA/viewform. This form is due by February 16th. If you do not fill out this form, you will not be eligible to take a course over at the Career Tech Center for the 24-25 school year.. Please make sure to give two options for the Career Tech Center on the Google form as some classes are in HIGH demand.
- Seniors: The FAFSA is open. You will have a very short window of opportunity to complete this. This year changes have been made to make the FAFSA easier to complete. Gather the items that you need now. You will need to gather tax returns from last year. You will want to start gathering income documentation (ex. child support if you receive any - you will want to get those totals). Student and parent(s) will each need the FAFSA ID which you can get now. Visit StudentAid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch to create an FSA ID. You'll need your Social Security number, full name, and date of birth. You'll also need to create a memorable username and password, and complete challenge questions and answers so you can retrieve your account information if you forget it.

Champions of Wayne - Goal Updates!
Congratulations scholars - the first semester is in the books!
In regard to first semester goals:
We are aware everyone is anxiously waiting to see if they meet their goal (we are too!). However, please be patient as there are 340 champions and we will not know who has achieved their goals until AFTER grades are submitted. We anticipate being able to share results sometime late in the week. In the meantime, place a hold on Thursday, February 1, 2024 for the Champions Banquet celebration! Details will be sent out to those who have achieved their incentive.
In regard to second semester goals:
Once we have announced who has achieved their goals, we will begin collecting goals for the second semester. If you met your first goal, you will be required to create a new goal. If you did not achieve your goal this semester, you have the option of leaving your goal as is or making a new one. The decision is up to you and your mentor.
Second semester goal sheets will be available in the office (Room 249) and will be emailed to all Champions and mentors.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email us at tgccow@gmail.com or visit us in room 249.
