From the Principal:
Dear Sunflower Families,
This week we celebrate American Education Week. This is an annual event that falls each year the week prior to Thanksgiving. It is meant to honor and show gratitude for ALL staff who work in our public schools, from office staff to bus drivers. Today specifically is to honor the work of our support staff. Please send a shout out using the link below. We will make sure our staff get your message.
Our 4th graders had a visit from author and illustrator, Brad Sneed this week. Our scholars did such an amazing job during this presentation and I wanted to shout them out. They were respectful and engaged in active listening.
I am very excited to honor Hilary Nauholz as Sunflower's Friends of Education Volunteer Award recipient. Hilary has served as our PTO president, runs our spirit wear sales and is on the board and is a coach for our Marathon Club. Her support and investment in our school over the years is to be commended.
Just a reminder there is no school all next week for Thanksgiving break. School buildings will be closed the week of November 21-25.
As always it is an honor to serve as the Principal of Sunflower Elementary.

Dress for the Weather
Please dress your students appropriately for the weather every day. We will continue to go outside for recess until the wind chill falls below 15 degrees. Please remember to write your students' names on their hats and coats so they can be returned if they are misplaced or lost.
FREE COATS!
YES! Sunflower will be hosting another coat drive. Donations of brand new coats, gloves, socks, etc. will be provided starting on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH. If you would like to have your scholar/s receive a free coat, please let Julie Heatwole know asap via email: jheatwol@usd497.org or phone #785-330-4860.
