Fort Sumter was occupied by the U.S. Major Robert Anderson after the succession of South Carolina. One year later, Abraham Lincoln announced his plan to resupply the fort. Once General P.T.G., who was part of the Confederates, heard Lincoln's announcement, he decided to bombarded the fort. This bombarded, or these shots, began the Civil War.
This bombarded was a victory to the Confederates, but a bad start for the Union.
