-where all students learn at highest levels-
If it's April it must be testing time
ALL grade levels are participating in some type of testing this month. We find our K-2 students completing the third of three stages of AimswebPlus testing - a way to monitor progress. Our 3rd -5th graders are finishing their second of two MAP testing phases, and those same 3rd-5th grade students have the statewide PEAKS testing coming up, too. WHY? You might be asking why should we test in a year that has been so different? Let's look at these tests as a way to see where our students are at the end of this school year and use those results to plan our path for next year. Let's think of those tests as a starting point to measure the phenomenal growth that's possible next year. Let's use these testing results to forward the potential our students have within themselves, AND THEN let's help them get there.
Respectfully,
Joanne Van
Purple Up! For Military Kids
“Purple Up! For Military Kids.” Is a day in April set aside for everyone around the Nation to show their support for military connected students. DODEA encourages the entire school community – teachers, principals, students, parents, bus drivers, etc. – to wear purple on Friday April 16, 2021 to show support for our military students and appreciation for their strength and sacrifices. Purple represents the blending of the colors of the five branches of our armed forces. Here in Alaska, we are proud to be home to Air Force, Army, National Guard and Reserve families.
Spirit Week April 12 -16
Meals are free for all students through May 2021
The USDA has extended the waiver for FNSBSD to provide breakfast & lunch to all FNSBSD enrolled students for FREE. This includes our charter schools and BEST!
There are some important factors to remember:
Meal pick up at MSN is 9am - 9:30 am by the gym doors off the bus loop.
Orders can be placed online through School Cafe. Students should be present to pick up meals, but if they are not the parent/guardian must have photo ID and S# for each student. If the parent/guardian is not available, they need to call Nutrition Services at 451-1004 to designate another adult.
Free & reduced applications are still being accepted.
