the beginning

Ancient Greek philosophy began in Miletus with the pre-Socratic philosopher Thales and lasted through Late Antiquity. Some of the most famous and influential philosophers of all time were from the ancient Greek world, including Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Most of these famous philosophers had many different beliefs. Some of Thales beliefs were that the earth floats on water and that all things are full of God, Socrates believed in the Socratics method (named after him) which basically means that he believes in logic, Plato believed in natural science and epistemology, and lastly, Aristotle believed in the weakness of the will and voluntary action.

some beliefs

All of the ancient Greek philosophers had many different beliefs about different topics. Some of their beliefs are that Thales believed that the earth floats on water and all things are full of God, Socrates believed that being agents the Athens was the right path and in the Socratic method, Plato believed in natural science and in epistemology, or that Aristotle believed in the weakness of the will and the voluntary action.

their writings

The Greeks used their creative energies to explain experience by recourse to history, tragedy, comedy, art and architecture. But their creative energies were also used to "invent" philosophy, defined as "the love of wisdom." In general, philosophy came into existence when the Greeks discovered their dissatisfaction with supernatural and mythical explanations of reality. Over time, Greek thinkers began to suspect that there was a rational or logical order to the universe.

important questions

Greek philosophers approached the big questions of life sometimes in a genuine scientific way, sometimes in mystic ways, but always in an imaginative fashion. Pythagoras considered a charlatan for claiming the doctrine of reincarnation, Aristotle tutoring great generals: these are examples of how Greek thinkers dared to question traditional conventions and to challenge the prejudices of their age, sometimes putting their own lives at stake. Greek Philosophy as an independent cultural genre began around 600 BCE, and its insights still persist to our times

regarded by others

In ancient Athens there were very many disputes between the philosophers and the other Athenians. Socrates often accused the Sophists (several philosophers who were paid the teach)

questions and effect

Some personal questions that i have would be things like why did the ancient philosophers do what they did, how come they only had one name, and why did they approach the big questions of life?? Despite those simple questions the ancient greeks have a huge effect on todays society. Even though America is a republican democracy the development is a huge effect in todays society, as well as sports and olympics and mathematics.
