Muscular Dystrophy is a group of disorders resulting pin muscle weakness and a decrease in muscle mass over time that is also a genetic disorder. There are 9 major types of Muscular Dystrophy.
Causes & Complications
Caused by incorrect or missing genetic information preventing the body from making the proteins needed.
Signs
- Delay in walking
- Large calf Muscles
- Falling more often
- Walking on tip toes
Complications include
- Muscle Health, Bone Health, Heart Health
- Breathing, Digestion and nutrition
- Emotional and mental health

- Physical Exam
- Take family history
- Blood test
- Physical Therapy
- Doctor may prescribe the steroid Prednisone
- Weakened muscles in the shoulders, back, arms, and legs
- Usually a life span of 20 years
