North Glendale Family Update
April 10, 2022
Good morning!
It felt good to dig in the dirt on Saturday ~ that always makes it feel more like
Spring! Many thanks to our PTO Beautification committee for pulling folks together to jazz our spaces up a bit.
A reminder that Tuesday APRIL 12 our Parent Equity Group will meet at 6:30 in the NG Library. We will be debriefing the book Punching the Air Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam, or the TV series based on the book, When they See us, directed by Ava DuVernay.
Please reach out at anytime!

April means MAP testing for grades 3, 4, 5.
Week of April 18: 3rd grade testing
Week of April 25: 4th grade testing
Week of May 2: 5th grade testing
Parents will receive a schedule of when exactly kids will be testing during the week. We request that kids are not checks out during MAP testing. Make up tests are really hard on the kids as they are not with their peers ~ their support network!

LAST DAY FOR Class Placement Info
Fourth quarter is here and one task we take on at school is the class placement process for NEXT school year. (5th grade parents ~ no action needed on your part!) Our process is long and comprehensive with multiple voices at the table. An important voice is the family voice, so please feel free to weigh in via the links below.
Please remember to refrain from requesting specific teachers or including any negative comments regarding staff as teachers will be reviewing this data when making placement recommendations. Your input along with the input of faculty and staff will be reviewed and considered as we make classroom placements. Please know that all requests will be considered but may not be honored due to limitations of space and numbers. Because our process is so comprehensive and all about balance and good fits, we do not make changes to classlists after they are shared in early August.
It is our firm belief that we have a building full of wonderful and diverse teachers and students. Every placement is an opportunity to learn and grow
This survey is open until April 10th.

If your K-4th grade student is NOT returning to NG please let your classroom teacher and the office know as soon as possible.
Playground After School
Please remind your kids that Adventure Club is also outside and under supervision from AC staff. Our KSD Adventure Club staff are responsible for supervision of our kiddos in Adventure Club until 6:00. This is getting trickier on the playground as more and more people come up the playground.
If you have middle school kids who come up to the NG playground, please also remind them that our Adventure Club staff are there for supervision of the kids in their program and are KSD employees.
Thanks for your help with this.
