What is a Career Trek?
They are "career field trips" which connect students with employers in the employer's real-world work setting! Students receive a "behind the scenes" look at organizations and the variety of careers that exist for them. Priority is given to juniors and seniors. If space allows, underclassmen can attend.
This week student's interest in manufacturing visited Swiss Automation and student's thinking about becoming an EMT went to Superior Ambulance in Elmhurst!
Coming up this month:
Is your student interested in Criminal Justice or Law? Students can sign up to visit the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, January 22nd or attend Law Day at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse on Wednesday January 29th.
Please visit the Career Trek website for more information and to see other exciting trips planned for second semester. Contact Marie Mirabella with questions. Follow Marie on Twitter @BHSCareerAd or check out the Career Trek web site.
2019 SUMMER INTERNSHIP
The purpose of an internship is to provide students with real world learning experiences. We have several different companies participating in this program for 2020 including healthcare, education and much more. Internships are limited and are first come first serve. This program is for Sophomores and Juniors only and students must be 16 years old by June 1st.
Summer school registration begins January 7th. Students must sign up for the Pre-Professional Internship course after which they will be contacted and matched to an internship site. Students will report to that site during the regular summer school schedule (both sessions) and work 15 hours per week as determined by their site.
Online registration for BHS Summer Academics and BHS Summer Camps will begin on January 7th. The open registration period for BHS Summer Academics will close on February 21st. Remaining seats will then reopen on March 16th on a first come, first served basis. BHS Summer Camps registration will remain open until the day before the start of each camp. Please see www.barrington220.org/summerschool for more information.
