Our main purpose is to improve student academic achievement.

Effective instruction makes the most difference in student academic achievement.

There is no excuse for poor quality instruction.

At risk students will achieve at the same rate as non-at-risk students.

Staff members must have a commitment to children and a commitment to the pursuit of excellence.

What a dynamic first semester. We have made amazing strides with student academic achievement and with building relationships with our families, staff, and especially our students. I have never been more grateful for being a part of the Nathan Adams Family!, I am certain that next semester we will have even more celebrations!

The countdown is on, with 5 more days before winter break. Students are completing their ACPs in the morning, and will continue to be receiving instruction for the rest of the school day. Our ship is on the right path, continue heading in the same direction as we come to a close for this semester.

Staff will return on Monday, January 4th, students will return Wednesday January 6th. Teacher classroom work day Jan 4th and Job-Alikes are on Jan 5th.

I wish you all a restful holiday break with your families! May the new year bring us an abundance of Peace and Joy!

Be sure to read the TEI NEWS emails that come from DISDNEWS each week.

Nathan Adams 2 Way Dual Language Teachers are preparing for their Project Base Learning lessons this week. Dialogue about creative ways to implement project based learning was led by Mr. Herrera. We even have vertical teams Mr. Sevilla and Ms. Ewelike are partnering together with their project. Most classrooms are integrating Science and Reading Language Arts with a focus on Poetry. Can't wait to see the final projects. We will be presenting our plans at the Dual Language Professional Learning Community this Thursday in the library with the WT White Feeder Pattern Team.

Excellent Teaching-Caught in Action

Two classrooms are highlighted with great learning going on! Students moving and standing up and in circles having conversations about their learning are great ways to deepen understanding of the objective.

1. Ms. Sivio had her students with their chairs in 2 large circles, approximate 8 in each group (desks pushed to the side). Students used their white boards to prove their responses and then discuss with in their groups their thought process. Students were excited about the learning and the change of the classroom set up. This is a great example of "Thinking out of the box" Student and teacher voices were balanced!

2. Ms. Melikyan had her students working on patterns by holding the pieces of the pattern and placing themselves into the specific pattern. Students were orally repeating the pattern while moving about the room. Student and teacher voices were balanced!
