Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
December 7, 2017
Advent is a time for preparation - preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus. It is also a time of waiting. While waiting challenges us, waiting develops patience and provides time to reflect. Advent offers the opportunity to spend some time waiting in prayer with the Lord for Christmas Day. This week, during your waits at red lights, in store lines, and for dinner to be ready, value the pause and spend time in quiet with the Lord.
There are so many exciting happenings at Our Lady of Good Counsel School!
- The National Junior Honor Society Installation will take place tomorrow at 1:30 in the school gymnasium. We will gather to formally recognize those students who met the standards of excellence of one of the nation's oldest, largest, and most prestigious student recognition programs. Please join me in congratulating these students and their families for such an outstanding accomplishment.
- Our new TV Production Studio is almost complete and will be ready to be unveiled upon our return from the Christmas break. The TV staff and crew have been hard at work planning and preparing for their first broadcast. This broadcast will be posted on the school website for all to view. Parents will have the opportunity to tour the new studio during Catholic Schools Week.
- Our new Optional Lunch Program is up and running and set for expansion upon our return from Christmas break. Please take a look at the new Lunch Menu for January embedded in this newsletter. All orders will be due back by Monday, December 18.
- We are now into our first week of the second trimester. Report Cards will be distributed on Monday, December 11.
- We will have our first major school fundraiser of the school year! Tuesday, January 30 will be a Day of Giving for Our Lady of Good Counsel School! You can read more about this below and you will soon be seeing this Day of Giving advertised in our community.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
