Week at Windsor 10.27.19

Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...

Dear Windsor Families,

Here is our Week at Windsor. This is the last October edition. November will soon be here!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

We enjoyed seeing so many of you on Thursday and Friday for conferences. We value this time as we partner in your child's academic, social, and emotional growth and development. Many thanks to our Windsor PTA and different parent/guardian volunteers for the delicious and generous conference night dinner and homemade goodies for teachers. It was a wonderful treat and break in the evening!

Lost and Found

We have a blue cabinet in our main commons area which serves as Windsor's Lost and Found. We set out tables with all lost and found items during the two conference days for families to visit. We will be bagging these items and getting them ready for donation on Wednesday, so please feel free to stop by during 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, if you did not have a chance to visit.

Halloween Planning

Halloween is this Thursday. We have sent out the following information for families. Unfortunately, early forecasts show that we will need to think about indoor plans, should the weather be rainy (or even snowy). We are still holding out hope, but we will send out specifics closer to Halloween day!

We are looking forward to a fun and festive week ahead!

Warmest regards,

Piper Boston, Principal @PrincipalBoston

Lindsay Anastacio, Assistant Principal @lindzana

Halloween Reminders

Don't forget to fill out this planning/permission form by 10:00 AM Monday, October 28th!

We need all families to tell us their plans for Halloween day.

Halloween Food Service Menu: The lunch options for students eating at school this day will be Cereal/Yogurt or Pizza Kit, as well as a selection of fruit and veggies.

School Appropriate Costumes: We want Halloween to be fun for all of those celebrating and ask that costumes portray non-violent characters. Please select costumes that avoid pretend sharp objects, weapons, blood, gore, mature content, etc. Costumes that may be appropriate for older children or adults may frighten younger children. All grades 1-5 students should come to school dressed in their normal attire on Halloween. Students staying at school for lunch will have time to dress, though, they cannot bring hair or make-up products.

Pictures Went Home

Many thanks to our Windsor PTA for coordinating individual and class pictures. Students who ordered individual school pictures should have brought them home this week.

Windsor's Picture Retake Day is November 6th. If children wish to have pictures retaken, they need to bring their pictures with them on this day. If children were absent on the original school picture day, they can take their photos on this day. Order forms should be completed in advance.

Coffee and Conversation with the Principal

During these opening days/months of school, I have prioritized getting to know staff, students, and the in's and out's of Windsor Elementary School. I haven't even begun to know everyone or everything...YET! Still, I have enjoyed the journey and continue to feel so fortunate to work each day with this fantastic team of educators and your amazing children.

At Curriculum Night, I shared a desire to set up a series of Principal Coffees and Conversation dates/times with parents/guardians. These first meetings are meant to help interested parents get to know me better and to help me get to know/hear from all of you. Below are three offerings for the month of November. Please only RSVP for one, as they will all be similar in format, and I would like to keep sizes conducive to conversation.

  • Tuesday 11.5.19 Coffee #1 at 2:45 PM
  • Thursday 11.14.19 Coffee #2 at 6:30 PM
