What is heroin?
Heroin: Heroin is a drug made from seed pods from a poppy plant. Heroin has many dangerous side effects, and has large highs that lead to addiction and overdoses. Most times heroin is found as a white or brown/black powder, and when the heroin is darker, it is usually mixed with something or has impurities.
Effects of heroin
Short Term Effects
- Rush or High lasting 3-5 hours
- Slurred Speech
- Nausea/ Vomit
- Itching/ Rash Outbreak
- Constipation
- Slowed Heart Rate
- Delirium- Withdrawal
Long Term Effects
- Liver/Kidney disease
- Abscesses- Large puss bubbles that are severely itchy and infected
- Infection of the heart
- Collapsed veins
- Lung disease
- Brain slowness/ Neuron damage

How to quit
It is very hard to quit heroin! Cravings and withdrawal can kill people months later after their last use. Ways to quit include:

- Therapy
Avoiding heroin
Heroin is highly addictive and hard to quit. Don't approach someone who may use heroin. Never do heroin, and remember, peer pressure isn't worth your life.
