From Mrs. Davies
Just a couple of quick reminders:
Spring officially arrives on March 20th! With Spring comes the annual Wisconsin Forward Exam. Students in grades 3-8 will participate in this assessment. Students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 will take the Math and Reading portions of the assessment. In grades 4 and 8 students will take the Math, Reading, Science and Social Studies portions of the assessment.
The schedule for each grade level is below.
Week of:
March 19th: 3rd grade and 7th grade
April 9th: 5th grade and 6th grade
April 16th: 4th grade and 8th grade
If you know that your child will not be in attendance during his/her assigned week, please notify Mrs. Zdrojewski, k.zdrojewski@stonebank.k12.wi.us so that make-up times can be scheduled. If you have any questions about the assessment, please contact me or Mrs. Z.
The flu! We seem to be heading into another round of flu like symptoms with our students. Right now, it seems to be hitting our primary students the hardest. Please help us keep everyone healthy by reminding your children of good hygiene and hand washing procedures. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, they should not attend school. They will need to remain out of school until they are fever-free for 24 hours. Thank you in advance for following these guidelines.
Spring Break begins the afternoon of March 29th. Students will be dismissed at noon on March 29th. Lunch will not be served on that day. If your child remains after school for Y-care please send a bag lunch on that day. Students and Staff will return from Spring Break on April 9th.
Sincerely,
Lynn Davies

Project Linus Results
Thank you to all of the parents and staff members who took their time to buy fleece and to all of the students who brought them to school! Another thanks goes to all of the students who participated in making them on March 1st during the Project Linus event. We had more than 30 kids come to our Project Linus “Party.” We made a total of 36 blankets! These will all be given to the Children’s Hospital. Also, a special thanks to Mrs. Glorioso, who volunteered to bring them to the Children’s Hospital. Thank you everyone for helping out!
Pennies for Patients
On behalf of Stone Bank School Student Council and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, we would like to thank all the parents that looked under each pillow for a nickel, and the children who brought in cash and participated in “Pennies for Patients” this past month. From February 12-23, each class brought in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, paper money and checks. As a school, we raised $1,270 dollars for kids who are currently in need, and for cancer research. Each penny helped a child fighting cancer. Although everyone was a huge help, the 8th and 5th graders brought in the most, and will be getting a pizza party as thanks. Once again, thank you all for being amazing superheroes for all of those in need.
March Writers of the Month
Mrs. Bolinski's favorite part of Kate Beiler's essay:
Kate Beiler worked to present a clear argument about how her theme appeared in the novel she was analyzing. By working to provide clear and consistent evidence, she proved that she was able to conquer the challenge of analyzing literature. Nice work, Kate!
Mrs. Bolinski's favorite part of Ava Parson's essay:
Ava’s short story was like none I have ever read before. She had a main character who clearly needed to overcome some odd and emotionally taxing circumstances. Her concept was so unique, in fact, that it could be developed into a novella or novel if she so desired. Her ability to “show” rather than “tell” her story made it that much more engaging to read. Write on, AP!
Mrs. Bolinski's favorite part of Carson Krogmann's essay:
Carson created a retelling of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” to write one outstanding fractured fairy tale. This fairy tale replaced the bears with basketballs and Goldilocks with Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. It was creative to read Giannis’ journey through the home of three basketballs, as he tried their Gatorade, dunked on their hoops, and made an all around mess. The outstanding details and tension kept me engaged as a reader. Way to go, Carson.

Wisconsin Giant Map
We were fortunate to have a National Geography Society Giant Traveling Map of Wisconsin come to Stone Bank School on Tuesday, March 13th. A representative, Sandra Mackey, from the Wisconsin Geographic Alliance shared this map with the primary students. The hope of these lessons was to help students better understand the world and empower them to make a difference. It was a great hands on activity for the students to learn more about maps.
