Dear Bethany Families,

I want to start this message by acknowledging and thanking all the healthcare and frontline workers in our community. I know there are many loving adults of Bethany students who are directly impacted by the ongoing battle of this pandemic. I know people are exhausted and emotionally drained seeing this magnitude of suffering in our ICUs. Our deepest gratitude for your continued dedication and sacrifice.

While we're on the topic of COVID, what I want to be focusing on as we embark on a new school year and what I need to give my time and attention to are very different things. The pandemic has lasted far longer than many of us expected. Last spring, I had high hopes for a relatively "normal" return, and here we are again measuring spaces between desks and trying to keep up with the ever-changing guidance. I was in a meeting yesterday with district leaders and all elementary principals. I have some new information to share regarding safety protocols, restrictions, and requirements as we prepare for the start of school. This is what I know to be true TODAY. Things are subject to change, and we will adjust plans as necessary to address needs and concerns. A lot of this information will likely cause disappointment, but I encourage you to keep in mind the reason behind all of the rules; to fully and safely open schools for in-person learning five days a week. We want to take every precaution to ensure the safety of your children and our staff. The bullet points below are in my own words. I encourage you to read the District FAQ page for more details and information.

  1. All after-school and evening events at the elementary level will be held virtually until further notice. Secondary schools may have different rules since their students are eligible for vaccination. When the teachers return to work on August 30th, we will discuss plans for our "Meet the Teacher" event on September 2nd and Curriculum Night on September 14th. Stay tuned for more details. *Some schools may be having a drive-thru event to drop off supplies next week, but we collect $ for supplies and do not have a need to do that.
  2. Visitors and volunteers will not be allowed in schools at this time. I am particularly sad about this (I love volunteers!), but it makes sense in reducing exposure. People WILL be allowed to enter the office to drop off paperwork, medications, etc.
  3. Masks are required both inside and outside.
  4. Students will maintain 3-ft distance in classrooms and 6-ft of distance in the cafeteria, to the greatest extent possible. We are exploring many options for lunch and arrival plans. I'm excited for our creative, solution-oriented staff to come back and help me create the plan! We'll keep you posted on the details ASAP!
  5. IEP meetings will be held virtually (and it's looking like conferences will likely be virtual).

There are going to be some bumpy patches and things won't always go the way we want. I hope that we will work together (families and school staff) with a lot of grace, patience, and love for one another as we navigate the challenges ahead. I also hope that we can find joy in every day and appreciate being back together in person. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you don't find the answers you need in the FAQ document.

Enjoy your weekend and you'll be hearing from us again SOON!

Warmest Regards,

Bethany Calendars

We have been working on putting together a calendar of school events. Due to COVID mandates, please assume that all evening events are virtual until further notice.

Help Us Purchase School Supplies

We have been busy over the last few weeks purchasing the school supplies that the teachers have requested for your students.

Rather than every family having to do their own shopping, we have found it is easier to collect money for supplies. It has worked very well over the last few years, as families have paid $30.00 per student and then teachers buy the supplies for their class.

This system has several benefits:

  • All students in a class have the same supplies
  • Supplies purchased in bulk are less expensive
  • Teachers only buy what they need (prevents stockpiles or waste)
  • Flexibility to purchase more enriching and creative materials for projects

Thank you to those families who have already purchased their supplies online. If you have not yet paid, you can click on the online payment system below. You can also bring cash or a check to the school office.

Online Payment System
Here are the instructions to follow, once you are in the system:

  • Click on your student’s name
  • Click on school Items
  • Click on the correct grade
  • Click on school supplies

We understand that some families are not able to afford the cost of supplies. Some families may be in the position to make an extra donation towards helping others. All children will receive the same supplies, regardless if they are able to contribute towards the cost. If you would like to help by giving an extra donation, please click on the “Donations” tab that appears on your child’s grade level page. Thank you!

Classroom Teacher Assignments

  • CLASS LISTS- Classes were tentatively formed last spring. We have had a lot of movement over the summer. Teachers will review the lists to make sure they are balanced. Teacher assignments will be communicated on September 1st. Thank you for your patience as I know this is always one of the most anticipated pieces of news in the summer! :)

Enrollment Verification

Before the beginning of every school year, we request that parents/guardians review and update their family and student information. Keeping your family's information up-to-date is crucial to receiving timely communication from the district and ensuring that you can be contacted in case of emergency. These updates can be done online through your ParentVUE account.

Please click below for more information on how to verify your student.

If you have moved and will not be attending Bethany this year, please let us know by emailing This information will help, as we form classes for the 2021-22 school year.
