Something to think about is the power of presence. It doesn't take money to make a child happy or feel loved. Please remember that! Children want to have YOU as their present. The present of time and attention is the most valuable thing you can give your kiddos and yourself. Children like to read and sit on your lap or next to you, cuddled up in bed or a chair. Children like to play board games or card games with you or a grandparent. Children want to be seen by you and recognized for their humor and the joy they bring you. So grab your babies and give them a squeeze, sit down and drink hot cocoa and discuss their favorite part of their day. Drive around town and look at the lights in neighborhoods or downtown Lee's Summit. Traditions can be whatever you want them to be. It doesn't take a whole bunch of money, it just takes YOU!

Parents as Teachers offers a screening for all children who reside in the Lee's Summit School District boundaries three years of age to kindergarten entry. This screening works to celebrate children's milestones and identify possible delays. It focuses on communication/language, large and small motor, problem-solving and personal-social development. Your 3, 4, or 5 year old can receive a FREE screening through Parents as Teachers.
You do not have to be enrolled in the Parents as Teachers program to participate in the developmental screening at this age.
If you are interested in receiving a screening for your child, please call 986-2486 to schedule.
