Semester 2 starts Monday, February 8th
- Login to StudentVUE (or parents, go to ParentVUE) and click on Class Schedule. That will tell you the schedule for the current day, and you can also choose Semester 2. (disregard the class times and period #)
- Find out if today is an A day or a B day, by checking this calendar: A/B Day schedule for FLEX Online School
- Your schedule will remain the same all semester, so write it down in a place that you will see it each day, so you know what classes to check in for.
- Remember you are welcome to complete work for classes on any day of the week. A and B days let you know when your help sessions are scheduled and when you need to check in with the attendance link/form.

The Family Engagement Organization is now called the FLEX Online Community Support Organization - FOCS (pronounced 'fox').
This past week we successfully filled all board positions and can now apply for non-profit status. We also need your help! Do you have any experience creating a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and filing the Oregon paperwork? We would love to hear from you. If you are willing to help, please contact us at flex.focs@gmail.com by Monday, February 15th.
We will continue meeting the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7pm (see below for link). Next meeting: Tuesday, March 2nd 2021. All parents, partners, grandparents and learning coaches of FLEX Online students are welcome to attend our meetings.

Volunteering with FOCS and FLEX Online School
In order to volunteer (including over Zoom), it is a district policy that you must be approved in BSD’s Better Impact volunteer system.
If you have previously volunteered at a school in BSD and would like to add FLEX to your list of schools please send an email to update_volunteer_locations@beaverton.k12.or.us and request FLEX to be added. (You may also ask for your previous school to be removed).
If you have never volunteered within the Beaverton School District, you will need to create a volunteer account, which includes a background check. Visit the BSD website or you can click on this link Create a Volunteer Account. When creating your profile, list FLEX as your school.
Once you have been cleared to volunteer we will send you an email!
If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Pam Jeffery at focs.volunteerlead@gmail.com

Who is your student's counselor?
*FOR ELEMENTARY ONLY*
On your student's Canvas Dashboard you will see a course titled "FOS Elementary Students". Please take a moment to explore this course, as this is how your student's school counselor will post announcements, resources and counseling lessons centered around social-emotional well-being. The lessons provided here are not graded but encouraged.

Wet Weather Doesn’t Mean You Need to Stay Inside!
Join K-12 students and families for a wintery walk or roll in your neighborhood on February 24th!
The following tips can help keep you safe and comfortable while walking and rolling in Winter:
- Be Safe – Stay 6 feet away from those not in your household and wear a mask.
- Be Seen – Wear bright, reflective clothing, use a bike light, and stay alert on dark, winter days.
- Be Prepared – Dress for the weather. Rain gear and warm layers keep you dry and comfortable all season long.
After your trip, visit the link below and fill out the form to earn a raffle prize. 25 raffle prizes will include: reflective umbrella, clip-on safety light, bicycle seat cover and bicycle light! Tag #BSDtogether #BSDsaferoutes to be featured on BSD’s social media accounts.
Walk & Roll: It’s Good for Your Heart
Whether you walk or bike a few blocks or over a mile, physical activity is good for your heart, your whole body, and it’s fun! With cold winter weather, children spend less time playing outside, but a nice brisk walk or bike ride will help achieve their recommended 60 minutes daily exercise and help prevent childhood obesity and support healthy bones.

Tell Us Your Story! We would love your help to tell the story of our school and the families that make our school community so special. We will use this information on our school website to help other students and families know more about our school. Use our online form to tell your story and even upload a photo if you have one! | Book Bus The Library Book Bus is rolling and bringing school library books to students in their neighborhoods. All BSD students — including FLEX, options and high school students — can check out books from their closest neighborhood stops. Students just need to give their student ID numbers. Find more information, including the bus stops and times here. | Canvas Notifications & Emails Each user in Canvas, including parents and guardians with active ParentVUE accounts, controls their own notifications. We know some of you are being overwhelmed by emails or notifications. You can adjust your notification settings to get what you want, when you want it in Canvas. The Canvas Parent Webinar (above) has information on how to do this. Scan forward to minute 24:34 to hear an intro and then at minute 28:18, the nuts and bolts of notifications are explained. |
