Lobit's Book Event

Lobit celebrated Crown An Ode to a Fresh Cut in September. This wonderful book by Derrick Barnes turns the everyday event of a barbershop visit into a celebration. Local barbers from Dapper Don's came in to the library to read the book to students and give three haircuts highlighted in the book. Third-grade students visited with the illustrator of Crown, Gordon C. James, via Skype just before the reading. Bluebonnet books were announced this week and Crown is on the list!

Famed Authors of the Magic Tree House Series Visit and Donate Books

In collaboration with Blue Willow Bookshop, Mary Pope Osborne and Natalie Pope Boyce visited Lobit Elementary on October 25, 2018. The authors donated 250 books, and their publisher Random House donated an additional 250. They only visited three schools in the United States this year. They wanted to visit a school affected by Harvey as their most recent books were about the terrible hurricane in Galveston in 1900 and the Fact Tracker companion Texas Heroes.

Book We are Excited About!

This just in to Lobit Library. The Rough Patch is a sweet, beautiful book about dealing with loss and grief. Although the loss in this masterpiece by Brian Lies is a beloved pet dog, the book could be used to console anyone dealing with grief. A must read!
