Student Choice: To Give or Not to Give
- Give: It is a great idea to give students a choice for which app to use when doing creation type products or lessons
- Not to Give: Read the 2 sections below to see two instances where students should not be given a choice of which app to use
Notablity
- Notability can be used to store notes, annotate over notes, take notes, etc
- This app works very well with Edmodo and Google Drive if you want to get things to your students or you want to collect things from your students.
- Google Drive provides an easy way for them to back up their notes.
- If you are using a different note-taking app, ask me about changing to Notability. It will help all students and teachers if we are all using one app for one purpose
- I have gotten to almost all of the 8th graders for training
- I will start training 7th graders next week
- Notability can be found in the App Catalog by going to the purchased tab
Pages or Google Docs
- Please direct your students to use Pages or Google Documents if you are using the iPads for any kind of word processing
- If a student does not have a copy of Pages, they can get a copy in the App Catalog>Purchased section
- Here is an iTunes link to Google Documents (which works with Google Drive)
Updating to iOS 8.1
- Students and staff should be updating to iOS 8.1
- I'm visiting classrooms over the next 2 weeks to talk about this requirement
- Students do not have a choice, they must update
- The 8th graders have a due date of November 10th
- The 7th graders have a due date of November 17th
- Many don't want to update because the update requires 7 GB of space.
- After they update, they will get that space back
- I am showing them all a link on how to update
- The link is below for you as well
