Monthly Update
December 2nd, 2020
We are crushing it in 5th grade! December here we come!
How is it already December? It feels like just yesterday we were wrapping up Summer break and preparing for our 5th grade school year and here we are halfway through!
Gators, as we move toward the second half of our school year- I have to stop and be honest with you. I never expected us to be in remote learning this long and I am sure you feel the same way but I can't begin to express how proud I am of each and every one of you that has been logging on daily and really taking that ownership over your remote learning. We are going to finish strong TOGETHER no matter what learning model we are in!
If you weren't able to make it at any time during this week, be sure to go back into class to watch the recorded classes and complete any missing assignments! If you need help understanding how to complete missing work- reach out and we will absolutely help you!
Reminder: Class Attendance is taken Monday- Friday. Please be sure to log into class daily AND complete those assignments to receive credit and instruction.
What is your student working on??
Science - In science, we're learning about the global weather patterns and extreme weather that we experience as a planet. Have students explain the weather to you or even watch the weather on the news to extend their learning. Key vocabulary this month includes Jet Streams, Gulf Stream, El Nino, La Nina, and we are also continuing our practice with air pressure, cloud types, and weather vs climate. Remember: High Pressure = Happy Weather Low Pressure = Lousy Weather
Language Arts - This month in reading, we are working through our Ecosystems Unit and focusing on the main idea and key details as well as quoting accurately from a text. Students are beginning their Ecosystems research projects and will be wrapping up their research books in the next few weeks. Parents, keep an eye out for your student's projects and encourage them to share their writing as much as possible. We have some amazing authors in our class!
