This Week’s Positive Message: Our quad looks amazing. It is up to each and everyone of us to keep it clean. Can you imagine what our school would look like if each of us picked up 5 pieces of trash each day? What if we picked up 5 people a day? Sometimes we all need a pick me up. We are having a bad day, or we a little bummed. Pick someone up by making their day. Open a door for them, give them a compliment, a smile, or a high five, make a new friend, invite someone to eat lunch with you who is alone, or just say hi. Pick up 5 pieces of trash, pick up 5 people. If you picked up 5 and 5 everyday, Black Mountain and you would be better off for it. Thank you for listening Kind Raiders.
PTSA Link: The flyer given out at Back to School Night had the wrong link on it for our PTSA. The correct link is www.bmmsptsa.wordpress.com
BMMS chosen as the ADL’s Spotlight School for No Place for Hate: This school year, Black Mountain is featured as the Anti-Defamation League’s Spotlight School for No Place for Hate. This designation honors the work we do each and every day to eliminate hate from our school and community. Check out the spotlight LINK
Mindful Minute: Thank you for participating in our Mindful Minute at Back to School Night. We led our first Mindful Minutes with students on Thursday and Friday. They went very well. FYI...the Mindful Minute happens in the first 5 minutes of each school day and our office will be putting phone calls on hold during Mindful Minutes so we can model mindfulness during this time. Thank you for your understanding. For more info on Mindful Minute, see this LINK

This Week is National Suicide Prevention Week
Suicide prevention is a very important concern in America today.. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34. Please take some time this week to Know the Signs (videos included below) and learn what to do if you know of someone who could be considering suicide. Suicide is preventable. You could save a life just by reaching out to someone who’s in need. www.SuicideisPreventable.org
