Roaring 20's
The Roaring 20's was an economic boom period that had a positive effect on the daily lives of many (but not most Americans). New technology such as the automobile, airplanes, radios, and new appliances improved people's lives. However, some such as sharecroppers, farmers, and underpaid factory workers were not able to enjoy this rising standard of living.
Prohibition
Prohibition is a complete ban on alcohol.
Wood alcohol
Wood alcohol was a poisonous drink that can make you blind or kill you.
Bootleggers
Bootleggers destroyed illegal alcohol.
Speakeasies
Speakeasies were illegal night clubs or saloons that sold illegal alcohol.
Jazz
Jazz was a type of music that came along in the roaring 20's. This new type of music was mostly played by African Americans.

The 19'th amendment
The 19'th amendment made women able to vote.
Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance happened when tons of black artists moved to Harlem, New York. The artists used writing, music, and painting to share their ideas and feelings about life. They wanted to share about how being a black and being discriminated felt like.
The radio
Guglielmo Marconi created the radio. He made it for ships. But then he started making them for entertainment.
Mass Media
Mass media help businesses because they would advertise it on the radio. Then the listeners would buy the product and the businesses would get money. The radio helped make a common american culture when people would sit by the fire and listen to the fire.
