Decisions! Decisions! Decide!

Which Shoes Should I Buy? By: Adam Derry

INTRODUCTION

Hmmmm……. Should I buy the store brand pop or the coke product? Should I buy the designer shirt or the discount shirt? There are many decisions that we are faced with every day. I had to make a decision on what type of shoes to buy for my birthday. In order to choose the right kind, I followed a decision making process.

DEFINE THE DECISION

First, I made a trip to the mall to spend my birthday money. I had $200 to spend. The store I chose to shop for shoes was Footlocker. I found two brands of shoes that I really liked. Lebron’s was one pair that I thought was really cool and Wade’s was the other pair that caught my attention. I had my choices narrowed down.

WHICH ONE?

RESOURCES AND ALTERNATIVES

Second, I considered my resources. Some resources I had were cash, transportation, price tags, employees, and my brain. Third, I considered my alternatives. My alternatives were to buy the Lebron's and have $20.00 left over, purchase the Wade's and have $40.00 left over, consider buying a new shoe, or buy neither shoes.

INFORMATION GATHER

Fourth, I considered the pricing of both pair of shoes. The Lebron’s cost $180.00 and the Wade’s were $160.00. I tried on both brands of shoes to see which one felt better. The Lebron’s were very comfortable. The leather seemed to be of a good quality. I also liked the color and design of the Lebron’s shoes. When I tried on the Wade’s shoes, I wasn’t as impressed. They weren’t as comfortable on my feet and the leather didn’t seem to be as nice as the leather on the Lebron’s shoes. However, I did like the design and color of the Wade’s equally as well. I guess it was time for me to make a decision.

DECIDE AND EVALUATE THE DECISON

Fifth, I decided to purchase the Lebron’s shoes, even though they were more expensive. I liked how they felt on my feet, more than the Wade’s. The Lebron’s also had a better quality leather and the design was Super Cool! I was sure that they would last me a long time and that I would get a lot of wear out of them. It was worth spending an extra $20 for them.

CONCLUSION

Sixth, as you can see, there were a lot of things that I needed to consider when buying a pair of shoes. Having a decision making process helped me to make the best informed decision. I was confident in my choice and have no regrets. My Lebron’s will be on my feet for months to come.
