Library Cards
MNPS has issued 2 plastic library tags to each student with a barcode of their 190 number. I will try to give them out to teachers Tuesday in their grade level meetings. These should be your first period class. Thank you for seeing that these are distributed. If you didn't get your class, please see me.
Students should bring a tag with them when they check out. They may want to tape one to their agenda.
Scholastic Book Fair Begins on Tuesday, OCTOBER 30.
- The Book Fair will run from 8:40 - 4:10 every day, Tuesday through Friday.
- There will be a parent night on Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00.
- Staff will receive a $5 credit toward any purchase PLUS, I also give you a 10% discount.
- If you would like to give me a class wish list, I will be happy to display it.
- Some of my book club members will be helping me. I will send a note and it's only with your permission.
- Please check with me about when a good time is to bring your entire class. Please remember that if students come before school and I can't get them checked out in time, please don't count them as tardy. I will check out as fast as I can and give them late slips.
- I will send out a reminder about this next Monday.
- Look for handouts in your mailbox this week and be sure to share with your students.
- There will be NO checking out of library books or Maker Space use during the Book Fair.
The Benefits of Bringing Your Class to the Library on a Regular Schedule:
- It's easier for kids to remember to bring their books back to school on a scheduled day
- It increases circulation and readership (think increased vocabulary, deep reading by choice, a positive attitude about reading that they will take into high school, improved test scores, etc.)
- Fewer requests to go to the library at random times all through the week

The Book Club is meeting this Thursday
We will be meeting this Thursday at 8:00 am in the library. We will be discussing the ghost story, Took. Please remind your readers to bring their book with them and any others they haven’t returned yet. Also, remind them that we begin promptly at 8:00 in order to hear everyone’s opinions.
Our next book will be on November 15th and we will be reading Making Bombs for Hitler. You can check out the description on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/Making-Hitler-Marsha-Forchuk-Skrypuch/dp/0545931916 I think it’s a good choice to read during a time when we are thankful for our many freedoms.
Battle of the Books Mock Battle this week!
We will be meeting during the two PLT times (10:58 - 12:36) for a mock battle in the library. If you have a student who is on a team, remind them to come to the library during that ENTIRE time. Kids may bring their lunch.
Also remind kids that if they are interested in being on a BOB team, to see me. The sooner the better.
Thanks!
