On the Horizon
Sept 14-18
Message from the Principal
Windstorms, power outages, loss of internet, tech issues, a brush fire at GMS and 38th, and pm school closure...and that was just the first day of school.
After weathering the stormy start, I am proud to have crossed the finish line of the first week of school with you. Our staff has worked tremendously hard to prepare for these first days, and you all have gone above and beyond to make it a priority to connect with your teacher in 1:1 conferences. I caught a glimpse of our staff's dedication in hearing the hours spent troubleshooting tech and training to be ready for students. I met a family who had a tree fall on their house yet they still made it on time to their teacher conference the same day. This was a logistically challenging feat, but a great example of how we can partner as a learning community to remain connected while the majority of students are learning remotely.
Quick Recap: On September 14th, we will begin our 2nd week of small group partial days with our Options program. Starting September 21st, we will expand Options to full-day in-person learning, and invite K/1 students to choose in-person learning. We look forward to adding more students as is safely and sustainably possible.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure - we are in this together! Please mark your calendars with the 3 main upcoming events of Materials Pick Up, Community Chat, and Fondi's TakeOver.
Gratefully,
David Bentler
HHES Principal
