News From Principal Gregory Lamothe
Letter from Principal Lamothe
Hello PRS Wizards,
The last 4th grade classroom was able to visit World's end and learn about all the nature and science right in our own backyard. All 4th grade classes enjoyed their time and this is a perfect time ask your children about it as there is much more at World's End that can be seen that students didn't get to see.
Our 5th grade went to the Ted Kennedy Museum and became honorary senators for the day to debate whether or not the school day should be lengthened. The 5th graders learned the democratic process and how senators debate in Congress. Ultimately, 2/3 of the students were against a longer school day and gave strong arguments why they believed the school day should not be extended. Here are some of their argument
- some children stated that more time in school would take away from their extra curricular activities, and prevent children from participating in after school sports, religious classes, music classes, and take time away from their family activities.
- some children at our school live in Boston and they to travel a distance to get to PRS
I also want to give a big thank you to all the families who gave a donation to the fundraising campaign to meet the PTO's goal. It is without you the parents and guardians, who care so much about the enrichment of classroom learning that PRS is such a magical place to be a part of. It is an extremely special school and I am thankful everyday to be part of this community.
