Classroom news from Mrs. Tiffany

Anchor book for the week:

What do you do when you see a spider? I'm Trying to Love Spiders is filled with lots of spider facts; hopefully after reading it we will love spiders a little more.

Whats happening this week???

This week we will:
  • Learn fun facts about spiders.
  • Paint spider webs during process art.
  • Count, sort and make patterns with spiders.
  • Try to love spiders. This one is hard!!!

Explore and discover something new with your child every day!

Many friends have expressed how much fun they had at the pumpkin patch. If you and your family participate in this fun October activity take the opportunity to make it educational as well. When choosing a pumpkin discuss whether it's a small, medium or large pumpkin. You can take it one step further and take a tape measure with you and measure how many inches around each pumpkin is before you choose the perfect one.

Halloween Parade

We will be having a costume parade at 10:30/2:30 on Tuesday, October 31th. Children may wear their costumes to school or bring them in their backpacks. Please do not send handheld items (swords, wands, etc). Also, we cannot allow the children to wear a mask that covers their face (safety issues). If your child wears their costume to school please keep in mind they will go to recess and have snack while wearing it.

Parents you are welcome to come to see our parade and or walk through the parade with your little one. Bring your cameras☺

Immediately after the parade each classroom will return to their rooms and have some more fun. You are welcome to join us for this, but by district policy we CANNOT accommodate other children in the classroom for our party.

Cold and flu season.

Sick children need to be home until they are well for a 24 hour length of time

  • Sick is when a child is on an antibiotic for an infection of any kind.
  • Sick is a fever of greater than 100 degrees (student must be fever free without the aid of fever reducing medicine for 24 hours).
  • Sick is continuing to have a persistent cough even with cough medicine.
  • Sick is vomiting and/or diarrhea within the past 24 hours.
  • Sick is a sore throat that doesn't go away with over-the-counter pain medication.

When a student will be absent from school for any reason, a parent should contact the school at 986-2460 and give student's name and reason for absence. Thanks for helping keep our classroom healthy!
