How was the bridge built...
The bridge was started in 1933 and took 4 years to build. The bridge is 4,200 feet long and that is almost a mile long! It hangs from cables from two towers that rise out of the water. People can walk, drive, or ride a bike across the bridge.
When the bridge was being built, some workers had to balance above the water. This was dangerous. While building the bridge 11 workers died. I would be afraid to work on the bridge!
