As the 2018-2019 school year comes to an official close tomorrow, we want to wish all of the Keefe Tech community a healthy and happy summer break. Families will receive our summer mailing this August with updated bus routes and school calendar. The first day of classes for the 2019-2020 school year will be Monday, August 26th. It will be an A1 schedule. Lots of good news and photos to share below to round out the year!

As always, if you have any feedback regarding what you would like to see more of in the Bronco Bulletin please reach out by emailing back to this newsletter. Happy summer!

Summer Reading - Get excited!

  • All students enrolled in a Keefe Tech English class are expected to read at least one book from the list below (click on summer reading 2019 button). However, we encourage you to read multiple books throughout the summer.
  • All students will be expected to complete an essay upon returning to school in September during their first academic week. The essay will be graded and will count as a classwork grade for term 1.
  • It is recommended that students take notes to help them write their essay, however, notes will not be collected or graded. Notes are allowed during the essay writing process.

NFTE New England Regional Business Plan Competition

From Mr. Warren:

Shane McConnell finished third this past Tuesday night in the regional business plan finals winning $500 (to start his new business). He did a great job presenting in front of a group of about 150 business people. Although he didn't win, he was graceful and thrilled to come as far as he had. It was a fun night!

I also want to mention that two other students from KT, Amanda Lamberti and Ashley Sok, took the night off from work to come to Boston and support Shane. I told them how impressed I was that they would do this for a peer (they actually did not know Shane before the competition). We have some really amazing students here at Keefe!

Welcoming the Class of 2023!

We held our Accepted Students Day last Thursday and had an amazing turnout of faculty and Student Ambassador volunteers welcome our incoming students. CTE teachers and ambassadors set up tables representing their areas, and the students rotated through a "CTE Fair" before selecting the 8 programs they are interested in exploring next year. Fall coaches hosted a sign-up fair as students arrived from their Middle Schools.

Many students entered a raffle by sharing their reason for wanting to attend Keefe Tech and below are a few examples. I wanted to share some of their words as we close this school year and get ready to welcome a new group of students into our community.

To get a head start on my career - Wilson Middle School student

I'm going here because I think the Career and Tech fields they offer will prepare me for my future - McAuliffe Charter School student

I want to have a foot future - Cameron Middle School student
