Falcon Forum
Principal Point
I hope your family is well and persevering through these difficult times. It is hard to believe we are six weeks into the school year and October is just around the corner. I have been impressed with how quickly our teachers have adapted to virtual instruction, and the amount of effort and creativity they've put into their google classrooms. I have been equally impressed with many of our students, and their willingness to adapt and overcome the challenges we are faced with. I recognize that virtual learning is not ideal, and it can create more responsibility and stress for our students and families. We are trying to find a balance of providing the academic rigor without overwhelming our students. Thank you for your patience, communication and partnership as we navigate this ever changing pandemic. We do miss our students tremendously, and are hopeful for their return and some semblance of traditional school.
It was exciting to see Kindergarten through Second grade students return to in building learning this week in a staggered form, as it creates anticipation for our Fairmont students returning the week of October 19th. As stated in previous communication, we will return in a phased format with students divided into two groups, Gold and Silver. All students will be virtual on Monday, with Gold students attending in building on Tuesday and Thursday, and Silver attending in building on Wednesday and Friday. We will continue to send periodic emails as we get closer reminding our students and families of the group they are in, and expectations for returning to school. In the meantime we need our students to stay committed to virtual learning. Our first quarter ends October 16th, and the opportunity to turn in missing assignments and improve student grades is now. Our teachers are providing extra class time for students to catch up, and our staff will continue to reach out to our students who are not engaged. Please let us know if you have questions, concerns, or have barriers preventing your student from being successful with virtual learning. We will do our best to accommodate and meet the needs of our students and families.
Please enjoy the latest Falcon Forum, have a wonderful weekend!
