Vox Cor Vita (Voice Heart LIfe)
Message from Mr. Mendez, MRE Principal
This week we will be starting our 8th week of this year's MISSION. This week is going to be a fun week. We are going to have our Comic Con activities at our campus this week. We'll have SEL lessons and comic book readings to conmemorate National Comic Book Day. You don't want yur child to miss out!!
I would really like to continue asking for your support in having your child attend school each and every day. It is very important they are in school every day. For those students that are below the 90% attendance cut off, you will be required to have your child attend our October Loss of Credit (LOC) session during the first week of intersession. We will also have our October STAAR Learning Camp the first week of intersession (details below). Please do not make any plans for that week and schedule during the second week.
Please continue readng newsletter for important updates and events happening this week:
- Comic Con
- Kettle Corn Fundraiser
- STAAR Learning Camps
- Attendance Information
- Absences due to COVID19 (when to ESWIPE)
- VSP Soccer Schedule
- Plus more important information

G3 - G5 STAAR Learning Camps
G3-G5 MRE Parents,
We will be starting our After School STAAR Learning Camps this week. We will do so on Tuesdays & Thursdays until the rest of this grading period (6 sessions). These sessions are designed so we can assist our scholars in making improvements from their previous STAAR performances. The following are the different levels on how the state provides credit for scholars when they pass their assessments:
- APPROACHES grade level
- MEETS grade level
- MASTERS grade level
Our goal, and were pretty sure your goal as well, is to have our scholars not only pass their test, but to pass in the MEETS & MASTERS levels. With this, it may mean inviting your child to stay after school, Saturday, and/or during intersession in order to provide enrichment and extension opportunities so they can pass at a MEETS/MASTERS level. We appreciate your support in providing your child the opportunity to attend and supppoirting our teachers who are ready to provide your child with instruction they need in order to be successful.
Please keep the following dates in mind for our October Intersession Learning Camp:

October 3 - October 7 (Mon. - Fri.)

MRE Kettle Corn Popcorn Fundraiser!! Thank you for your support!!
We will be starting our Kettle Corn Fundraiser this week. Students will be provided with order forms this week. Our school gets 50% of all sales! This fundraiser is directed towards our Student Account where we are able to provide them with incentives such as cerficates, trophies, pizzas, snacks. We also use towards adding a canopy in our newer playground in the south side of our school. Thank you for your support!
No Tardies Please!
This week, we will begin documeting arrival times for scholars that report to school past 7:45 AM. There is minimal traffic by 7:40 AM at our school, therefore, there should be no reason for your child to arrive late. Remember, your child depends on you in order for them to get to school on time.
Frequent tardies are also subject to disciplinary measures as indicated in SISD Student Handbook.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Reporting Absences to MRE
If you need to report an absence, our PEIMS Clerk will be able to assist you. Our team will be receiving the email to help assist you. I will forward all of your messages to the classroom teachers so they are aware of the absence.
Email: attendancemissionridge@sisd.net
Please include as much detail as possible:
- Child's name
- Grade
- Teacher
- Student ID
- Reason for the absence
All notes will be collected via this email as well. Be sure to include details in the note as the child returns to class.
This year, the district will not quarantine scholars. We will treat COVID like the flu. Be sure to get a note from the doctor to return to school. With a doctor's note, these absences will be excused absences and still accumulate towards loss of credit.
If they have a doctor’s note, it must be included in the email as an attachment.
You can also go to this email address to get the attendance note to submit:
