Lincoln Middle School Weekend Update
Students and staff had a great week back in class after a wonderful break of rest and relaxation. Thanksgiving break is such an important time to rest up with the simple pleasures of good food, family, and fun, but it is also time to reserve energy to get ready for the upcoming winter break and winter weather! Please be sure to take note of the school calendar. Winter break occurs much later this year. The last day of classes before winter break is Thursday, December 22. School is closed, from Friday, December 23, 2022, through Friday, January 6, 2023. Classes resume Monday, January 9, 2023.
I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to also remind students and parents that snow and ice will be in the forecast in the months ahead. Please be sure your children have the necessary outdoor wear to dress warmly as we will still participate in outdoor recess if possible. Our temperature guideline for outdoor recess is 16 degrees. I also want to emphasize to students and parents alike to respect and follow the direction of our crossing guards. Snowy weather and icy streets make their task more dangerous and more important than ever. Your cooperation is vital for the safety of all students.
Lastly, there are always so many good things happening at Lincoln, and some are behind the scenes! I am excited to share and congratulate, 8th-grader Marin H. on earning the Patriot's Pen Award earlier in November. Marin wrote a paper titled, My Pledge to Our Veterans which she will take with her to the district-level competition. We wish Marin the best of luck throughout the competition. Should she progress further she could be competing at the state, possibly the national level! She, along with other local winners, will be honored at the Voices for Democracy Patriot’s Pen banquet on January 15. Congratulations Marin!
Sincerely,
Eric Larson, Principal
Congratulations Cheetahs!
