Counseling Corner-Registration and Scheduling Info
Hello,
The SHS Counseling Department is excited to start the school year! We will be welcoming some new faces to the counseling office this year. See below for more information about who your Counselor is and when In Person Registration will take place.
Aarin Pinkstaff, A through K
Alyssa Bettendorf, L through Z
Susie Erickson, Intervention Specialist
Justin Engstrom, Care Coordinator
Josie Bradley, Registrar
Nicole Verzino, Counseling Secretary
Please see your StudentVue schedule for your most up to date schedule. The courses listed in Canvas will not be updated until the 2nd day of school.
Schedules changes can only be made for the following reasons:
student was misplaced in a class (example: student needs Algebra but was placed in Geometry)
Student is missing a class needed for graduation
Student has already taken the class and does not need to repeat it
All schedule change requests must be submitted by completing the online Schedule Change Form. To maintain social distancing and to avoid long lines, students do not need to come to the counseling office to request a schedule change. If you do not have a phone or access to a computer to request a change, please come to the counseling office.
Students can access the online Schedule Change Form by opening the camera on their cell phone and holding it over the QR code below. Tap the link that pops up and it will take you to the online form. Don’t forget to click submit at the end of the form.
Counselors will only be working on schedule changes in the Schedule Change Request Form. Make sure to pick up a new schedule on the first day of school, which will include your changes if they could be accomodated.
Students new to the district in grades 10-12 can join us for an optional new student tour and Q&A at the High School on Tuesday, Sept 7th from 2PM-3PM.
Safety Updates-Bring A Mask
The state of Oregon is mandating that students and staff in K-12 schools wear masks indoors to limit spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 delta variant. Masks will be required for anyone inside of a school in Oregon this year, according to a directive from Gov. Kate Brown. Safety of all students and staff is the number one priority of SHS and Scappoose School District. If there are questions about the framework for safe returns to school, please reference the link for the Oregon Department of Education’s Ready School Safe Learners document.
Scappoose High School understands the concerns for student safety and the want to be back to a setting of normalcy. Every effort is being made to mitigate exposures to the Covid virus, in order to return to a sense of normalcy. SHS administrative team asks students to adhere to social distancing protocols, wearing masks with fidelity and attending school with enthusiasm for learning and being around their peers.
COVID-19 Screening: If parents send their students to school or school activities, they are attesting that their students do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g., fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing) nor have they been exposed to COVID-19 through anyone in their household or community living space.
Every student must have a medical grade mask, no gaiters.
