Tumuaki Kōrero
Kia ora Parents and Whānau,
I hope you are all doing well in your bubbles and managing to have some quality family time. I know that I am enjoying spending bonus time with my family as we focus on what is important.
We have had some questions about the remainder of Term 3 and the school holidays.
Our latest information from the Ministry of Education is that they do not anticipate changing the school term dates at this stage. We are expecting to be at Alert Level 3 or 4 until at least the end of next week and potentially until the end of the term. The third term this year is expected to finish on Friday1st October with the first day back to school for Term 4 being 18th October.
Our focus at the moment is Wellbeing (Hauora) for learners, staff and our whānau. Please look after yourselves and your families. It is okay to say NO if things are getting too overwhelming.
Please connect with others and encourage our learners to do the same!
Ngā mihi nui,
Wendy
Weekly Focus

Primary Years Programme (PYP) Update
We were lucky to be able to start our Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry while still at school, and have spent lockdown focusing on research skills and looking at the different types of Action. Our learners have been challenged to take some sustainable action in their households, and talk to their families about what they can do to help the environment. It has been great to see some of the conversations that have been taking place!
With the uncertainty of lockdowns and alert levels, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Year 8 Exhibition for 2021. However, our Year 8 learners will be given the opportunity to share their learning in the next unit of inquiry with their families in Term 4. Where We Are in Place and Time has a strong focus on migration and the challenges and risks associated with it in the past. This will begin in Week 8, with a range of online and interactive activities being shared with learners in the weeks coming.
THE RESILIENCE PROJECT - Supporting Your Mental Health
So many of us are experiencing challenges right now. Over the last few weeks, we've been sharing some clips of Martin and Hugh where they've opened up about the things they are (and aren't) doing to help their mental health. Not only are the boys wildly different in personality, but so too is their approach to working on their wellbeing.
These tips may or may not work for you but if you're keen to try something new, we hope they provide some inspiration.

Guitar Lessons - Dave Gatman
Hi there! I have taught Guitar to kids in schools for over 15 years. I love working with kids and inspiring the next generation of musicians. I like to make my lessons as positive and fun as possible, teaching a range of songs from traditional folk/blues to the current pop and rock tunes.
I've played the guitar in a large variety of settings, and I'm currently in a covers band playing at weddings, bars and parties.
Lessons are in groups of up to 4 at a time, and cost $20.00 plus gst, for half an hour.
Individual lessons are offered if I feel like the student will benefit from them, and if I have space. These cost $35.00 plus GST per half hour.
Lessons are on Wednesday mornings at TNIS as well.
Feel free to contact me - dave.gatman@musiqhub.co.nz. Or text/call on 021 2221456.
Thanks,
Dave
