Springing Forward
Spring is just a few short days away! Last week's eLearning took all of us by surprise with three consecutive days out of the building. All assigned eLearning from last week is due by the end of the school day this Friday, March 6 in order for students to be counted as present for the days that we missed last week. Please be sure to ask your child's teacher about any confusion you may have regarding eLearning assignments. We can't count students as present for the school day unless they complete eLearning assignments. Keep in mind that we do allow three school days after returning from eLearning to complete all assignments.
March is a busy month leading up to our two week spring break. The Important Dates section below has been updated and contains a lot of information to take note of. With our spring season also comes our testing season for the school year. It's amazing to think that we are already planning for end of year assessments for all students.
Please continue to support your children's education as the weather improves and they start to mentally drift toward spring break. We will do our best to keep things engaging and interactive in school so that students can continue to demonstrate academic gains.
Please contact me with positive feedback or ideas that you have to improve our school. I hope you all have a nice spring break with your kids!

School-Wide Fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters
A fundraiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters began the last week of February. Students have been given the goal of raising $300 in change and bills. If this goal is met, Mr. Harper will be required to work on the roof for an entire school day. With three eLearning days last week, this fundraiser will continue through Thursday or this week. Students can bring in money to donate and place it in the jar in their classroom.

Third Grade IREAD 3 Test is Coming Up
As you may know, our 3rd graders will be taking IREAD very soon. Your child will be tested on reading skills and comprehension standards in English/Language Arts. Your child will need headphones to take this test. Please check with your child to see if they have working headphones. The test will be divided into two different parts. Day 1 will consist of reading foundations, such as beg./middle/end/vowel sounds in words and vocabulary. As well as, nonfiction reading comprehension. Day 2 will consist of Literature reading comprehension. We plan to test on Tuesday & Wednesday, March 17 & 18, 8:15 to approximately 10:30. It would be helpful to avoid any appointments on these days, if at all possible.
Parents, you can help your child do his/her best by making sure he/she gets a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast on these mornings. Parents, you can also help your child, by simply urging them to do their best. We want the kids to take the test very seriously, but also not get too anxious.
The state of Indiana requires all third grade students to take this test. If they do not pass, they will possibly be required to take summer school and/or retake the test.
We hope to see you at Family Game Night on March 19!
